Just done the first oil and filter change on my '08 110 at 5000kms. I checked the level first and it was about halfway on the indicator which is equivilent to 1 litre. When I had the air intake tubing to the turbo off, (to fit new shocks), at about 800kms there was quite a bit of oil in there from the rocker cover breather, see pic below:
Click image to enlarge I also changed the oil in the diffs and the main gearbox, (I didn't do the transfer box as its just been replaced). The oil that came out of the diffs seemed to have a mixture of nice clean EP80/90 and a quantity of very black oil, possibly from the packing oil/internal diff casing grime??? I'm glad I bothered changing it all! Cheers, Tim Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

Tim,
Very helpful that ! Thanks ! I have a very unhealthy obsession with oils and lubricants, Altho not in the manner u lot are all conspiring ! I would like to routinely drop the oils myself however I very rarely get the time ! I have just had a week off and in that time I have not had a spare hour to vacum the inside of the 90 out ! As I write this I'm sat on the train heading back down to London. So is it main dealer till warrenty expires or can I do this myself ! DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN |
