It's probably been left standing for a fair while which Defenders really don't like, but it could possibly have been reverted back to the original map.
It depends on what the symptoms consist of really. TheThunder Rolls🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⛽ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

If they did a software update when it was in then maybe it has been put back to standard?

My local dealer didn't do that when in went in for warranty work - let alone in the body shop.
Most dealers will not do updates unless the customer complains... hence why 90% of the Defenders (especially) are on old software. They could have done an update, but not bothered to the pilot injection learn... or they have tried to do a learn and corrupted the file. Or It could just be the fact it hasn't run for a bit (Puma's don't like standing around for weeks)... They do most certainly carry out upgrades without prior consultation as my experience and the link below will testify...
I had exactly the same happen when the Dealers decided to carry out Q068 software upgrade. Took me months for Autologic to sort out the gremlins and get the tune back into the ECU. I always instruct the Dealers NOT to carry out any software upgrades and leave a notice on the passenger seat and on the dash. "THIS VEHICLE HAS AN AUTOLOGIC REPROGRAMMED ECU…… THE REMAPPING WAS HISTORICALLY ‘LOST’ WITH A LAND ROVER Q068 ECU SOFTWARE UPGRADE WHICH WAS DESPITE REQUESTING FOR THE UPGRADE NOT TO BE DONE. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES IS THE ECU TO BE REPROGRAMMED WITH ANY LAND ROVER SOFTWARE UPGRADES AS THIS WILL COMPROMISE THE AUTOLOGIC ECU REMAPPING. ANY QUERIES CONTACT THE OWNER ON **************. THANK YOU." I now run a different remap but still post a notice! http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic7576.html?highlight=q068 If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! it feels sluggish under acceleration, it seems to be holding back and a little jerky, I had the re map done virtually as soon as I had it so I didn't do many miles on the standard map and it was over a year ago and I can't really remember what it was like, it just doesn't feel right, I've been driving a new transit for the past 5 weeks which when I got in it felt pretty similar to the land rover in the way it delivers its power as it would I suppose so its not as if i'm going from a normal car back to the landy

If you can get the remap reinstalled especially as you suspect it's been erased and see how it runs.

What you're talking about a totally different scenario to that which Ian has mentioned. You are referring to is a known service action, whether or not you required this update is somewhat immaterial, a dealer has the justification to do it and get paid, it's a no brainer for them. There is a policy in place and dealers will not just update the engine calibration because it's gone in for some warranty work, quite simply because if they can't substantiate the reason for it, they don't get paid. Also, just to dispel a myth, not every update to the engine calibration is a good thing. People seem obsessed with having their vehicles updated because the assumption is a newer calibration must be better, my advise is, if it ain't broke, leave it alone. If there is genuinely a good reason to update these things, then LR will let you know! |
