brake fluid
The brake warning light (activated by handbrake) is now coming on permanently on my 2003 110.
i have checked the brake fluid and the reservoir is on low. I last changed all 4 sets of brake pads less than 10,000 miles ago. I can see no fluids leaks at the brake lines...
any advice from anyone on this?
thanks
Tom

The warning light activated by the handbrake IS a handbrake warning light, which means either the handbrake is not fully released or possibly a switch issue.

If it comes on 'on its own' [not handbrake activated] then it could be down to low fluid ... if the brakes are not significantly worn, then top fluid back to MAX and keep a close eye on it for a week or two . Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

It also illuminates when the brake fluid is low (it has two meanings) top up the brake fluid to the max mark and the light should extinguish 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Thanks Guys,

Yes I meant 'the light that is activated by the handbrake'....

I think it is probably likely to be the low brake fluid so I will top it up and see what happens.

I guess as the pads wear, the level in the reservoir drops....

There is a common fault where the cable rubs through and gives this symptom. Do a search for the thread.

The fluid level switch is very sensitive on my '07, unless the level is right on max the light flashes if you brake on a hill.

Top up the level and keep an eye on it. No need to worry unless you're losing fluid.
