Has anyone ever fitted any speakers into the seat/battery boxes? Thinking of some 6.5" units firing into the front footwells to enhance the mid-bass (as there is none right now). There seems to be plenty of room inside both for the magnets to protrude in, can't really think of any reasons why not. Assume these are not structural so cutting holes won't affect anything?
Will still be adding the Alpine SWE-1000 sub but reckon this could be a really good sounding setup. Andy |

Hi mate.I put 2 6x9" in my 110 as there are 2 closed in seat boxes and it sounds really really good.The bass in very very good!.You dont even really need a amp.Wish i could do it to my 90 aswell

Seen the thread thanks, that inspired me!!
Am fitting a compact sub but was considering the 6.5" as well as they will add a bit of punch. No water gets into the seat boxes on these new ones, as someone said the fuses etc are all in the drivers side one anyhow so they would be first to go if it filled up!! Andy |

I've only had mine out on Salisbury Plain a couple of times, each time I go for a little play where I know there will be water. I have water splash marks over the battery and inside that side of the seatbox but so far nothing in the other side. But that doesn't mean it won't get in there 110 D250 SE HT

Well i spent 1 hour filling in the holes in the battery box on the seatbox (which is exactly the same as the TD5) So expect water in there it will happen - trust me. Mike |

I havn't looked at mine yet, so I don't know what's in there - but check that the battery has breathers to the outside (unless it's a sealed type), as you don't want the gasses to build up in there! |

Stop it getting is as it will get out the way it got in. Ive had some exposure to this - what you dont want is it in there in the first pace you can always knock a bung out to drain or rag to dry. Yes the battery is vented to the outside base Mike |

I fitted 6" drivers in the central cubby box sides next to the seat belt mountings. I created two dummy compartments for the loading of the speakers, filled with Rockwool.
I used Alpine drivers, the accompanying tweeters and crossovers were just fitted in the Puma dash. Much better sound, and if I want to turn it back to factory spec, I can just fit a new cubby box. There is a 2" cubby box now, the rest is taken up by the speaker compartment. Simon D |
