This is another reason I have not taken mine back yet, will they solve one problem but create another two, I just don't get the time to keep going back and forth to the dealers.

Nope nor do I, taken me 2 months to get it in as I'm so busy with my plant hire business! They want it for a week and won't allow me to use the courtesy defender as a tow vehicle!!! They wanted to give me a frelander but soon retracted it when I said about muddy tools and usually wet dog

Similar situation to me, last time mine went in I got a freelander, luckily I have got another Defender that I can tow with but that's not the point.
Sometimes I wonder if the dealers live in the real world! I think my 1997 300 tdi was put together better than this new one. Kev |

I had the same problem with mine, which to their credit, the dealer fixed. As previously mentioned, windscreen and D brackets were the culprits. I also sealed the foam where it connects the panels. The dealer asked for the car for a week. They wanted to water test it detect and or make sure the leak was cured. Mine didn't take five days. I'm sure they have seen it all before. Dealers should book every new Defender in for a week when they sell you the car. Good luck

Hopefully you will have a dealer who uses a body shop that knows what to do. Mine had the 110 for 6 weeks in total going back and too 4 times. It still leaked even with all the mastic they used.
IMO it is caused by either or both of the following: The roof is at an angle causing the water to drain to the front. The water which is quite a large volume when it rains seeps through the rubber seal at the bottom of the glass that keeps the windscreen in place which Leeds into the cab. The water then hits a ridge which flows to either the left or the right footwell. The right footwell generally gets it first because the car usually sits slightly lower on right hand side. - solution......take windscreen out and rubber, clean area, put a layer of good mastic around the lip of the frame and inside the rubber and refit. Also, due to the volume of water coming off roof, a large collection goes into the front gutter and flows to the left or the right. This then soaks the sponge between the bulkhead and windscreen frame which then Leeds into the cab and drips into footwell. - solution.... Either do the quick job and be lucky by using a thick bead of mastic all around the joint or the thorough job of undoing the brackets, slightly lifting the windscreen frame, removing the sponge seal, cleaning the area, 'completely covering the sponge in sealant and refitting. Then follow up with a small layer of sealant as per first option. However, in doing this you may also have to resell the top of the corners wear the doors. There are loads of threads on this forum, you just have to search every permutation of what it could be titled. |

Mine leaked too, brand new 13 plate 90 XS but on the left hand side. Matfords took it in for 5 days last week and touch wood its been fine since. Took roof off and resealed the entire foam seal (whole car) with black mastic.

Didnt really need to tell them much as the foam seal exposed on the left hand side (just up from the door hinge and on the bulkhead, only able to see 10mm of it) was soaked and dribbling water off it into the foot well. HTH. Angela was very good at Matfords - best deal with her  |

Thank you for that guide ! I was after something like this as mine too has sprung a leak! I will instead begin with the drain bungs in the blower pipe work as im sure theyve never been cleaned a snow cowl shall also be purchased |
