Privacy glass
Looking at some of the "ideal Defender" and peoples planned purchase threads there are a few references to privacy glass.

I can't find this on the options list though... is it available from the factory or is it a case of arranging films via the dealer (or are people getting films applied at a later date)?

Also can anyone give me a ballpark figure of what to expect to pay?

I don't want to go too dark (want to avoid the excessively modified/wannabe/gangster looK!) but am debating making the back end a little harder to see in to than the standard glass.

No LR option, all aftermarket,, some good firms, so not so good,,

The 110, even with flat glass is a pain 11 bits of glass on a SW,, work on £250 for a decent job

I've been quoted £250 from a reputable company in Glasgow, and an other in East Kilbride - with the condition the sliding glass won't be removed, its £400 if you want it removed. For £400 i'd be tempted by Landy Glass

I haven't done the Defender, but my last Range Rover Sport was £350 and my VW California Camper was the same. I think it was £300 on my A6 Avant.

As I am sure you are aware, you can get different levels of tint, but most reputable fitters will advise on the "factory" level of tint.

The one thing that gives away the fact that it is a retro fit film, is that you can see the heated rear window heating filament's from outside, whereas with the factory glass you can't - not a big deal as far as I am concerned Thumbs Up

Anyone had issues with insurance companies declining cover/jacking the price for aftermarket tints?

I'm considering getting a full set of glass from LandyGlass.net or http://www.masai-land-rover.com/

Probably will end up with panoramics .. currently have 90% tints by a local fitter. Cost £180, but know I got a deal. 2008 Defender 110 XS SW - M57N2 / 6HP28X

Ahh... so that's where those windows come from. Saw some on a Landy a few weeks ago and was curious about what they cost/where they come from.

Not meaning to be a stick in the mud but it's worth bearing in mind that there is a legal tint limit. Can't remember what percentage it is but it is there, cops can and will pull over any tint they like the look of to check.
I like it myself but some of it really is stupidly dark. TheThunder RollsπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Just a pointer to be called privacy tint has to be more than 75%, 70% is just tinted and you can see people behind it

Remember, a station wagon has near twice the amount of windows to be done, over a Utility,, and the side load area slider glass can be a pain
