Washer squirter nozzle
two bits to this question...

1) i half tried to remove my washer nozzle because i suspected it was blocked (actually i was out of fluid, doh!) and twisted it 2/3 rotations anticlockwise, and now its just all limp as hangs down. but i can't seem to get it off or tighten it up, it just spins round. so how would i remove or tighten it? (its a 2010 110 utility - heard they changed design sometime maybe?)

2) is it possible to replace it with a 2-fan jet washer nozzle? they're much better than the "just wets one teeny bit of the screen" ones that come as standard! IFAIK fan jets are mostly single fan jets and there would be two or more fitted to a car, but obviously i would need a double one. Cheers, David

Simon, the general feeling is that properly mixed, good quality screen wash negates the need for heated jets. A Hot Shot devise might be worth fitting if you are spending some time in very cole conditions.... My blog - www.anacreinhampshire.blogspot.co.uk

I often find a good screen wash prevents the washer bottle freezing, but the additional chill factor at the nozzle means it freezes sooner. Heated nozzles I have on the other cars helps in this regards.

Its not a major issue..Wink

In arctic conditions you don't need screen wash you just get an icey dust on the windscreen, but in -5/+5 conditions a good screen wash mix works well, I've often thought about fitting BMW heated jets onto the bonnet of my defender, they are temperature controlled and only come on when it's cold. There's a good installation thread on babybmw forum.

A hotshot is a good idea but you could buy a lot of bottles of -65c screen wash for the price of a new hotshot, if you can get a 2nd hand one ... happy days !

1) IIRC there's a retaining nut on the back of the nozzle, on the other side of the bulkhead. This keeps it tight (obviously), but is a bit of a Censored to get to.

2) What do you mean by "twin fan jet"? A jet that has 2 holes in, providing 2 squirts of fluid? Aren't they standard? An engine to TDi for!

ughh... crawling around in the dash it is then! Sad

and i mean the fan/mist type spray pattern that some Audis/BMWs/Volvos etc have - rather than a single 'water pistol' jet Cheers, David

A bonus, even in the summer, of the HotShot is that the hot washer fluid is very effective in cleaning the windscreen from insects, tree resin and other debris... Cheers, Vincent

I have the heat shot and great devise but not in the way it's advertised. It works best in the summer when the hot water cleans the dead flys better. It will clear frost eventually on the car but not on the landy as the jets aren't powerful enough.

Worth having for £180 just!
