Hmm.. Wonder whether floating across in a better sealed land cruiser or sinking and driving across in a defender would've worked better? Lol Cheers, David

That's why Landrovers are designed to let the water in!

I am quite surprised that he made it across, given that the vehicle appears to be floating completely for a while. I was always taught that when the vehicle floats you immediately open a door or take other steps to flood the inside in order to regain traction.

I find it hard to agree with the comments "very good 4x4 off road driver" and can't help but feel that a genuinely-good driver would have take a different approach.

Exactly... Tbh it was pure luck, he could just as easily have span round the other way and ended up facing the wrong way or floated to the corner. Only luck and a current carried him to the exit point Cheers, David

Whilst it took some skill to recover from when the back end started to float, it was definitely more luck than judgement that he was able to complete the crossing. A really good 4x4 driver wouldn't have got into that situation in the first place. Darren

As per previous comments if he had a bit more sense he would have a defender and yes it would have sunk to gain traction and he would have been through in a matter of seconds, I've been through deeper with no probs.
