You'll be absolutely fine to get home. Think of all the space saver tyres out there. They're invariably a different radius and are quite often fitted to a LSD! However, you'll be running different tread patterns and width so you should be more worried about your braking performance. People running space savers are limited to 50mph. That's not because the tyre will explode but because they will swerve on braking. So long as you keep your speed down, you'll be fine. I was contemplating having different tyres on my 110 to my Sankey (although, admittedly the same radius). That would mean that I don't have to buy 8 new tyres when I come to replace my Grabbers. I'd still want to be able to rotate them as spares if required but I'd have to recognise that I'd be running a General TR 235 on one corner and a BFG 265 on the other. Quite a few over the years
My last BMW definitely had a different radius space saver. My mate's new BMW has run-flats. Although they hold up with no air in, they're definitely not the same radius. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

I've been toying with the idea of a space saver style spare wheel for my Puma. The factory wheel is 34.4kg, which is a lot of weight for the rear door and so far back on the vehicle.
On a trip where the probability of a flat may be higher, the original spare wheel is obviously needed. But the majority of time I'm travelling within limping distance of a tyre repair facility, and with modern tyres and things only get a flat about every 20,000 kilometres if that. I haven't seen any suitable space saver style wheel and would probably have to alter an original steel wheel. The weight saving may not be warranted. Has anybody seen a suitable wheel? Limping along a small distance at sensible speed with a slightly different wheel is not a problem for the Puma diffs. |

For me personally thanks to sensible debate the result will be that I will keep the Boost for the time being.... Should another Mach 5 manifest itself in my travels I may be tempted to purchase it but it will feature lower on my priority list..... Rustmaster Snorkel Front Bumper Upgrade ....... ...... ...... 90% of Defenders are running different setups to the Boost/Grabber hiding below the wheelcover as is mine and i would have no qualms running the spare other than kids waving me down for a 99 cone!! 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

That's just it! My spare issue has dropped that far down my list I can't think of anything at the moment to fill the gaps! As a footnote it is NEVER a pleasurable experience cleaning wheels, however with my new ones it's as good as it gets being able to fit my hand and a big sponge between the spokes to even clean the inner rim! All four spotlessly cleaned in under 10 mins! Billy bl00dy bonus! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Re that word cleaning if you see an AutoSmart van grab 5 l of G101 from them its a mutipurpose cleaner but boy does it work (makes dead flies bleed)

Advice from the breakdown services says if you get a flat on the front, always swap your wheels so the 'space-saver' goes on the rear...
