Watch for oil consumption, mine didn't but it's not unusual in a new engine. Review the service interval based on the temperatures and nature of your driving. Where I am is never really below 30C and I do a lot of towing and driving on dirt roads but not a lot of kilometres. So I change the oil at 5000km
As fo running in the owner's handbook should have something to the effect of not exceeding 3000rpm for the first 800km from memory. I picked mine up and went and stuck a 1.2t trailer behind it 24 hours later then loaded that to about 1.5t and drove it 4500km home in a week. 110 2.4TDCi 110 300Tdi LROCV ::: AULRO.com |

Hello and welcome to the L/R ownership.I got my plates yesterday although I've owned the vehicle since August last year. It's a new seven seater import and what a nightmare to get it on the road.I've allready done 5000KM'S (demo plates) and changed to oil at 1500km and yes,the norm is 12000km's.I used to own a Oil Agency and there is no way I will leave any oil in a engine for so long.First at 1500 then every 6000km's,and not such a extra cost per year to it. If you are driving motor-ways,the main thing for me is not to sit on a steady speed and constant rev's.Vary your speed and rev's on a regular basis. After 2000km's start giving it some stick.I believe at the end of the production line, the engines get "fjthgjftghreureiias" :blub:So who now's,maybe we are not supposed to pamper them.I remember when I built a new engine for my V8 I was told not to exceed 1500rpm for the first start up,but the Piper camshaft wanted no less than 2000rpm. The Puma is great vehicle, enjoy it. Cheers Puma 110 SW 90 V8 SOFT TOP |

When I used to ride BMW Motorbikes the dealer told me that the
hire bikes had the best engines becos they were always hammered from new. (He wasn't trying to sell me one) Mick |

Modern engines do not need any special care. The manual states some top speed regarding the drivetrain. Oil change intervals are upon driving conditions (dust-heat-towing etc). However, this info is not in the manual but on the service sheet. Puma 110" SW

Thanx a lot for all the useful info.
I will check the oil consumption tomorrow morning. And schedule an oil change as soon as possible. |
