I fixed mine the weekend before last, well it's behaved itself for over a week now for under £40 in bits and my time and knuckles. It's such fun working through the air intake vent hole, the scars are healing up nicely now Thumbs Up

Unfortunately mine passed the test so its definitely not the shuttle valves.

No quick £40 fix for me Sad William

A busy couple of days!

1. Chassis, underbody and body wash and clean.
2. Chassis and underbody protective wax.
3. All doors, bulkhead and lot's of other little bits waxed.
4. All five wheels removed and polished.
5. Full interior valet.
6. Full exterior valet including Auto Glym clay bar, Resin polish and finally carnuba wax.
7. All oils and filters changed.

Tiring but well worth it!

A few photos!

Fitted my new heated windscreen (well yesterday actually) but this morning when it was cold and wet it was amazing how quickly it cleared the mist - even without the blower on! Very impressed indeed. Looking forward to the first frosty morning now!

I bought the screen from Claire (forum member) and then made up my own wiring loom using a 40A relay and 27A wiring and running through a Carling Switch on my Raptor dash. The screen is only pulling 22-23A so this seems to be fine, even though I have heard of them using 30A. I have fused it at 25A.

Thumbs Up Good things those screens. OE fitted they turn off after 8 minutes, does yours do that? Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. I decided not too put my screen on a timer relay instead it is just on the Carling on off switch and up to me to remember to switch off. It seems to clear very quick - only 1 min this morning to clear the misting up, and I suspect even with a frost it won't take long to clear.

Got just short of a cubic meter of soaking wet wood in the back today, the suspension was certainly not too harsh for the trip home! Smile

It handled it very well, the engine just lapped it up, had to drag it all out of a muddy yard, no bother, very happy! A man with no boat is a prisoner

My 300's electrical system is continuing to decay. Whilst off roading Sunday in Norfolk, the voltage was dropping (didn't notice) and unsustainable with a load - heater, lights. wipers, then would not start. Bump started to get back to base in Norwich, barely managing much charge at all.

I think the alternator has been downgraded to trickle-charger now, and my glowing battery warning light, now lights up again as I power off.

Woohoo.

New quality alternator ordered at cost of £166, plus 2 new battery leads. 1998 110 300Tdi White Hard Top

@ Jimbob, it wasn't the shuttle valves only the solonoid switch pack that I renewed. I didn't want to break any brake lines as I felt all along my problem was an electrical one, even just splitting the pack off the base of the modulator was fiddly. I took out the mounting bracket from underneath to gain better access, unscrewed the pipe bracket off the clutch master cylinder to give more movement and by doing so I could lift the modulator block up 2" to 3" with the pipes still attatched and using a 4mm hex key bit from out of a screwdriver set in a 8mm socket on a 1/4" drive ratchet got the fixings sorted. The longest part of my job was refitting my snorkel, I know why that was such a good price.........it is for a "non abs model" Rolling Eyes
