Hi All,
I am potentially interested in a simultaneous defender exchange. You drive and camp with my defender throughout the UAE and Oman. I drive and camp with yours through Australia, New Zealand, Mozambique, our Colombia. It might be a good opportunty to experience something new. On the other hand, there are many potential difficulties...e.g. without significant sand driving experience, it can be very dangerous to drive off road in the UAE. Certainly, other countries have their challenges, too. It would require a high level of trust between the two parties. But, people do this with houses. Why can't we do it with our vehicles? I own a well equiped 2009 Defender 110 complete with camping kit for five. Let me know what do you think? Kirk |

I too do not let others drive my defender, except my daughter off road lol ( I havr a soft spot for her lol) however.
I would most certainly be up for domething like this with the correct enthusiast if u were in an exotic region and equipped enough to do so. I think if you give this a little time it could pan out to become quite popular |

I assume most people on this forum must drive well and know the vehicle inside and out. I wouldnt have a problem with one of "us" driving my Defender - especially on hard packed surfaces. I would be more concerned with some of you driving on sand and in the dunes with no experience or support. Its a quick way to die, if you dont know what you are doing.
Anyone interested in exchaning Defenders with me, would need to do so between October and April - it gets too hot for camping in the heat of the late spring, summer, and early autumn. And during that time I would be more interested in exchanging with a southern hemisphere owner. I think there are many details to work out, but with the right individual in the right place, I might be up for it. Kirk |
