CAN-Bus fault? My 110 Puma XLS 09 plate has an anoying fault that does not show up on the fault code or even register with a diagnostic tool when running on the road. The fault shows itself as a sudden increase of power without pushing the axcelerator and at the same time the speedo 'flicks' upwards 10-30mph without the vehicle speeding up. This only appears to happen when at low(ish) revs when changing up through the gears.
I have been told that it could be damp in the circuitry of the speedo unit? Although how water can get inside a Defender is beyond me!! Any ideas people? If you can't climb on it, don't drive it! |

Thanks to tips from Lorryman this fault has now been fixed (hopefully). All of the plugs on the accelerator and speed sensors on the gearbox were eventually taken apart. They were spotless and I could not see any water in them but I cleaned them with 'electrical' solvent and put them back together.
So far the 'problem' has gone away. Thanks again Lorryman....... If you can't climb on it, don't drive it! |
