United Kingdom 2013 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Santorini Black
Newbie questions
Hi All,

I'm picking up my new Defender 90 XS on Monday. I'm new to owning defenders and was wondering what I should look at doing first in my list. Any help or opinions would be appreciated.

-- Dinotrol or Waxoyl - Anyone know someone in the Bucks/Berks area?
-- Window tint - Again any recomendations for my area?
-- Steering wheel - Momo or other?
-- Snorkle (Mrs Munky wan'ts one because she thinks they look cool)
-- Wheels/Tyres - was thinking either 265s on my standard boosts or going for 18's and 285s
-- Chequer plate kit (Mrs again)
-- KBX grill and vents (best place to buy?)

Also once I have a few miles on it I was hoping to get it tuned - who would be best, looking for a dongle job so I can remove for servicing.

Thanks all

John

What are people using for security these days - Alarm fitted as standard.

Pedal lock? Tracker?

Cheers,

John

Hi bionicmunky,

Security is more the better, you won't always be in the Cul-De-Sac, pedal lock and steering lock are in my option the bare minimum. I would invest in one of the tracking devices available from Forum Sponsors as well.

Happy Driving

welcome bionicmunky

Killer (sponsor) can help you with dinitrol/waxoyling, he's not far from you.

Security ... get as much as you can, do a few searches on here and you will get the idea.
Get both physical and electronic. Pedal locks, steering wheel disk loks, removable steering wheel, x-eng ignition shield, bonnet cable (to properly secure your bonnet), tracker (more Ł the better), window and panel etching, change your hinge bolts to security ones, and/or fill with ball-bearings or something to stop them from being removed.

It's a shame but defenders get pinched and quite often never seen again, so if you do lots of mods, make sure they are insured Thumbs Up

as for extras... take your time and enjoy the retail chase - there's lots of people very happy to sell you stuff ... Thumbs Up

First, welcome to the forum.

What to do first?

Security and protection as your neighbours CCTV does not help at 3am in the morning with vehicles on false plates!

Modify/add to existing alarm and buy a good tracking system (approved ones get insurance discount)

Physical security, steering lock, pedal lock, gear lever lock, bonnet hinges etc.

Protection in form of waxoyl etc but ensure doors etc are done.

Enjoy the vehicle and work out how YOU are going to use the vehicle first before rushing out on your retail spending splurge.

Trackers are fine, provided there are places to conceal them in the shell-like Defender that does not seem too obvious, and also does not obstruct its signal. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

Without saying exactly where mine is, behind the rear speaker panels, in the wings, seat box, under the cubby, near the alpine lights etc are all options Cheers, David
