Robofarmer,

First and foremost welcome to the site:-
With regards to your query it is entirely down to personal choice. My pennethworth for what it is:- If it ain't broke don't fix it! I have NOT had the previous two updates done as mine is driving perfectly well too. People often mistakenly agree to updates as 1. It's free and 2. They think it will have the acceleration of a Porsche afterwards.

As a footnote to this your ECU has 15 non-re-writable slots on it. After 15 updates/reprogrammes then what?
'Muggins' has to source and pay for a new ECU....Ask your dealer Workshop Manager to explain it to you....Mine admitted it when 'pressed!'

Once again welcome and I am sure someone else will be along shortly to advise.....

Robo,

Banter and the 'Northerners' aside Rolling with laughter (Joke Willy, Fekete and the usual tribe) it is indeed a wealth of useful information.
There are also some very knowlegeable individuals willing to impart and share their information to assist those that need it and make your Land Rover experience more pleasureable!
We also have an occassional Victor Meldrew in residence too! Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

I use J/Edwards and find them really good, very helpfull....If you can try, deal with Alex! he know's what he is on about....Also with the soft wear patch mine is running a lot better after the latest one...There is alot of confusion over how many times you can have the ECU updated....Some say 15 times, well thats quite a lot...I've had mine updated 4 times now in 3 years so i've still got a lot of updates left to be honest I think people get cofused with up date and total rewrite.... i've been led to believe you can only have it totally rewritten 15 times, not updated ...i'm sure someone who knows will correct me if i'm wrong...But the choice is up to you Thumbs Up NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. And your neighbour of course, welcome RoboFarmer Very Happy

Just to let everyone know, if you do go for any software updates try and check to see what fault codes are left in the ECU. Mine had to go back in to have the injectors calibrated. Thumbs Up
