hmmm - i have thought about one as well but dont forget it could catch you out as well unless you always always always obey the law!
Everyone speeds at times etc, and if you use the camera as evidence for your benefit you must make sure there is nothing on the disc that Mr Plod would use againgst you! A doubled edged tool IMHO that could bite back BM52 |

You are very right but I personally think the benefits outweigh the downsides

You hope you never need it, but it's a godsend when you do. Mine records the front with a good wide angle.
If you're going to get one, try and get one that has the facility to plug in a secondary camera at the rear too. |

Yep, but frankly in a Defender speeding should be the last of your worries? Seriously though, I have a £20 ebay special in my daily-drive Eurobox. The speedo isn't within its view, and the unit doesn't feature a GPS or acclerometers. So essentially, it will record the stupidity of other folk, in front of me. That's not foolproof of course, but then in order to be foolproof you'd need some kind of HD-GoogleCar with 360 cameras! I think of it as a £20 better spent than 'no claims bonus protection' (though I have that too). Yes I agree it's a pretty sad state of affairs that one should feel the need to have one at all, but frankly it's a pretty minor investment. Matt Real trucks don't have spark plugs |

I agree with your points but I am not just referring to speeding.....it could be any trafffic infringement. BM52

To resurrect this thread, I know the blackbox cams etc are superb, & its probably a case of you get what you pay for, but has anyone had any success / failures with the cheaper versions?
Ideally I'd like something that records when it senses movement when parked, plus auto records on a loop when running, GPS not really needed. Anyone any recommendations?? Cheers Keith |
