What Colour for my new 110 XS
Hi Defender fans. I joined this forum today and hope you can all help me with my colour dilemma.
I have wanted a Defender for many years, and at last have saved up and decided to order a brand new Defender 110 XS Station Wagon.
I shall be removing the third row of seats (I can't believe you can't spec it without these seats anymore) as the back is for the dog.
I have chosen the full carpets and the tow bar. Other than that its going to be pretty standard for now due to cost.
BUT!!! I need advice on two things:
Firstly, I have lower back problems and was wondering if it is worth upgrading to the Premium Seats? I know they look nice, but does anyone know if they are actually more comfortable and supportive.
Secondly - Should I go for Indus Silver, Baltic Blue, Aintree Green or Orkney Grey? I just can't decide and it is so important to get the colour right.
I had originally wanted it in Keswick Green with a white roof and the Heavy Duty steel wheels, but the Dealer has advised against it saying a non metallic colour and the white roof and white wheels will make it look basic spec and as an XS I may struggle to sell it on at a later date as most XS buyers like the metallic!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers guys

Thanks - Having read a different post on here it seems the metallic Blue has changed now to a different name, although the colour looks pretty much the same. Saw Tooth Alloys look great, but they are a pricey extra I can't really afford at the moment as I am stretching myself to buy the Defender in the first place. They may be a later addition in a couple of years.

Bear in mind the Blue is now Loire Blue and the Grey is now Corris.

Speaking from recent experience -- second hand XS buyers only buy them fully specced because that's pretty much the only ones you can find, as far as I can tell, so it's a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy. 2009 110 XS Station Wagon

You have not put firenze red as an alternative. If you had I would have voted for that. Enough with the nearly black or almost silver get a good bright colour not some impossible to see on a rainy day shade of tarmac. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

If you can get a XS in Keswick Green with a white roof, go for it. There is sufficient evidence in posts here that there always will be takers for that classic colour combination. And if you have back problems and need real good support, consider the Recaros which you can order directly from LR as accessory with a new truck. Mine came standard with those, and after having tried several Defenders this year with the recent new Premium seats, the Recaros remain a class above those as to giving back support for longer trips. Thumbs Up
Edit for adding colour comments: Now if you want metallic, think of alternative to the omni-present grey and black. Go for the Aintree Green then, I recently saw an XS at my dealers, and it is an extremely nice classy colour. If my SVX would not have given me the same colour options as the Ford T, (you could order it in any colour you wish, as long as it was black Confused ) I would have specced a green one for sure. Thumbs Up You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Personally I'd say stick with Keswick if you like the color. You'd probably end up with a car which you will loose a bit more if you want to sell it quickly, but you'll end up with a car you like best yourself.
That said, I choose Orkney in the end as that was the the dealer already ordered. Waiting time for mine therefore was less then a week. Mr. Green

+1 especially over the Aintree Green. I didn't think you could get a white roof on an XS model - after all part of the XS pack is the colour co-ordinated roof.

Is there any real evidence of that? On an XS metallic is part of the price so you could argue that a flat colour has actually cost you the same.

I'd want to know if the dealer steering me away from certain colours was more down to this Whistle

I'm a big fan of the HD wheels over alloys and would hope that if you are persuaded away from your choice by the dealer for a spurious reason, you don't regret it later.

My biggest piece of advice would be to be prepared to travel a few miles and see vehicles in the flesh in the various colours before making your choice. You can't choose colour from a sample swatch or even a photo.

Firenze Red with a black roof and why not get a utility in XS spec if you do not want the back seats ?

Our customer yesterday's Firenze red 110 was an XS utility, although with a red roof, and simply looked stunning. I'll take some pictures when it comes back for its leather interior.

It looked really good with the DRL bumper we supplied and fitted
