Instrument cluster question
Not really sure where to put this, but here's to it:

As LR used VDO gauges in the TD5 era vehicles, the bulbs for lighting them were a different specification and size to the previously used bulbs for gauges. I don't have a TD5, but I do have 3 additional VDO gauges fitted, of a reasonably modern era - my question, does anyone know if these bulbs will be the same as a TD5 set?

The reason is, you can get LED light upgrades for the instrument lights on ebay...I've already bought a set for the 300, and fitted them, but my VDO gauges are all still bulbs, and many different colours, so if I buy an additional set for the TD5 will they fit the VDO ones?! I'm no exper at this, but... Why not pull a bulb out of your VDO guage, and see how it compares to a Td5 bulb? An engine to TDi for!

Unfortunately, I don't think I have a bulb holder for a TD5 gauge... Rolling Eyes 1998 110 300Tdi White Hard Top

Td5 gauges use the small 1.2w 'wedge' bulbs. Usually sold under reference 286.

See here.

I've had a couple of VDO gauges and both have used the same type. But the only way to know for sure is to take one out as above.

Cheers. The TD5 ones are a white plastic screw-on round nut that retains them, which is exactly the same as my VDO ones I've got... 1998 110 300Tdi White Hard Top
