Chris, you sure its not just the air intake noise, it is very pronounced on a PUMA over your Td5. Cheers

Hi Chris
I have a 2.2 CSW and when I first got it I had a similar worry to you. The demo 2.2 that I had driven had a raised air intake and I hadn't noticed the induction noise but on the one I was delivered (no RAI), the noise was very pronounced - almost embarrassingly loud. I wondered whether an air boxhose had come off or something. For the 1000k service I got them to look at it and they gave me another 2.2 (no RAI) as a loaner vehicle. It too was very loud (although didnt seem quite as loud as mine). The dealer came back and said everything was as it should be. So I guess they are all like that. I have since added a factory RAI and the noise is greatly reduced. |

Thanks guys, perhaps it is normal then. It certainly is almost embarrassingly loud. I will try to get a listen to another if I see one around...

Mine did this too and I wondered also if something was amiss but was reassured by the dealer that all Puma 2.2's do this.
Since fitting the 'snort induction mast' it is oh so much quieter. (It has to be done). You only have one life, live it....forget the cost. 90XS Hardtop |

When I was looking for a 110 I test drove a 2.2 and I raised this with the dealer, I noticed it sounded like it was blowing quite loudly. When I took it back, they said this was perfectly normal for the 2.2 Tdci, anyway I went for the 2.4 in the end.

Interesting intake cover in your photo. What make, & do they come in other colours? Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender |
