Wonder wheels, Hotwheels cleaner, detailers love the stuff and it's often on offer in Asda fer next to nowt.
Not used WD40 for years there is so much stuff out there that is cheaper, safer AND just better.

I use cilliit bang cleaner when im desperate Whistle (the misses always has plenty for in house cleaning). Spray on and work it in with a paint brush. wash off with plenty of water resulting in lovely clean wheels

Wonder wheels is great but rather dear in comparison to diluted 5litres of traffic film remover (from a local motor factors) misted on & then left to work before thorough washing off; not sure I'd chance neat TFR Rolling Eyes "Ease your worries, Clear-up your woes,

There's a nice little review on the Clean Your Car site linked by Les Brock which talks about not only the "brilliant CarPro Iron X" (or Trix as it now includes tar remover) but also Sonax, which they seem to rate as "the best wheel cleaner that we’ve tested" - Worth a look?

Iron X is indeed great stuff but you don't want to use it too often (I clean mine once/twice a week) as it is a bit aggressive as it says on the tin it is for getting rid of any metallic contaminants that find their way onto the car,( you can use it on the body work as well but again not all the time ) to clean your wheels Meguiars is a good everyday cleaner, but the trick is to A : seal the wheels once clean and B : wash them regularly.
I would only resort to TFR / Truckwash type stuff if I needed to Censored up my wheels.

Eh up Wes, how's the defender ?

I use iron x every other month for a deep clean and bilberry every fortnight.

As Wes mentions I seal the alloys after cleaning - makes a massive difference.

Hello mate how you keeping?
Loving the defender should have gotten one sooner.... Once a month for the Iron X is what I go for as well. What's the bilberry like? I'm using AD very cherry at the mo which is good but I know lots of people that love the Bilberry

Hi buddy, yeah all good here . How's the better half and the mutts ? All well I hope.

I think the bilberry is pretty much the same as what you're using from what research I've done. Foams really well, gets the weekly crud off but doesn't really tackle anything baked on.
Totally harmless though which is the important bit.

Yeah I've got to dig the clay out before winter and get some protection on the 90. Looking pretty filthy at the moment.

For sealing the alloys there's all sorts of good products out there - get yourself onto detailing world and one of the suppliers (I use elite) and get some rim sealant.

As it were so to speak vicar.

Any wax is better than nothing,it's cleaning wheels with brushes that makes them harder to clean (scratches the paint allowing dirt to "key") a regularly cleaned and occasional wax of a wheel make future wheel cleaning a doddle.Or you can buy a dedicated high-temp wheel sealer (wax).

I find a strange thing with my 110..... I don't get any brake dust on my Boosts. I've never needed to use alloy cleaner on them?

With the Evoque, I drive it 5 miles and it's got dust on the wheels.

Anybody else have this with their Defender wheels? Craig Rogers
