What really winds me up in almost all of these stolen vehicle situations is that if LR had addressed a couple of basic glaring errors in design and location of certain alarm elements, then even with just factory security, we'd be starting from a better level. Okay so they fit BBUS as standard now... great..... my old '95 D1 had one fitted as standard and it's the same bl**dy part as the Defender one (or at least it was 2 years ago).

Westo, - chin up mate, I really do hope you get a result and find her but if not, then hoping the insurance sort things out promptly and painlessly. If you do get another 90, then I'm sure it goes without saying to slap a load of extra security layers on it (balanced to what is practical for your day to day use). Loads of good tips etc on here and elsewhere.

As an aside, the following link takes you to a page created by a disillusioned owner who tried (unsuccessfully it seems) to get Land Rover to acknowledge and rectify what he viewed to be the failings in their security system.

westo90,Get the insurance money and buy yourself another 90 don,t let these thieving scumbags stop you owning the vehicle you want to own.

When i got my insurance for my stolen 90 nearly four years ago i honestly thought of buying a Land Cruiser i even viewed a couple, but at the end of the day i just did,nt really want one i would have only been buying it as i thought it may not get stolen. Mrs Sparts convinced me to buy another defender (did,nt take too much convincing) as that was deep down what i wanted.

I,m still peed off about the theft of my previous 90 as i had done loads to it to make it what i wanted and some lowlife just helps themself to it so i know how you feel.

Never let the b@r$t@rds get you down mate Thumbs Up 2005 Td5 90 XS

Matt - Chin up buddy, breaking down is all part of the process. Five years ago we had the pleasure of the front door being smashed in and the car keys taken. By the time the wife jumped out of bed she saw the car disappearing down the road. Now I'm no shrinking violet, and would gladly engage with the thieving Censored, but I slept through it !!! I was angry and had all the 'what if thoughts etc ' and 24 hours later blubbed like a baby Big Cry The reality hit me - CCTV showed there were 3 of them and were armed, they were pumped up professionals who probably did it most nights and I was asleep- the odds were not really in my favor. We recovered the car within 40 minutes, even the dog was unharmed, because the stair gate stopped her getting down stairs Very Happy
We kept the car for a number of years, case of Censored them !! It dose get better Thumbs Up

Firstly let me say how sorry I am to hear of your problems. It does make you want to wire your car to the mains.

But if the back up battery isn't up to much, then how do we prevent the battery wire to the fuse box from being cut? Is there a link or mod to overcome this?
