The big benefit of wrapping over paining is that it is classed as temporary colour. So no hassle with the DVLA.

Although in my mind the jury is out on what level of protection it afford, we had vinyl stickers made out of cheaper, thinner vinyl on our side panels all year and they seem to have handled the bramble rash really well.

Time will tell. Its on display at the Northwich festival from tomorrow morning though, which is why it was done in the first place. Check out my YouTube channel for green laning and Land Rover "how to" videos.

I think the embossed Special Vehicles logo is very impressive; like yourself, I would have serious doubts over it's longevity when it comes to green laning but if it was a freebie then maybe that's less of a concern.

Did I read right and you have only siliconed on all the chequer plate - including the vertical sections? If so, intrigued to see how well these standup to use and resist lifting the vinyl.

Wrapping the bonnet bulge with an embossed logo would be something I would consider if I was sure the exposed edge wouldn't start to lift.

Talk to Edgy designs about that. They super heat a neat seam under and behind the bonnet and kit kind of bonds into a solid piece. Off all the panels they have wrapped that's what I'm most confident of. In places where they were concerned about it lifting over time they have used a glue gun to give extra strength to seams. Its really quite clever.

Oh yeah the chequer plate is riveted on it just has a seam of silicone to stop mud and water running behin dit. The paintwork was bubbling underneath when I lifted it off to have it wrapped. Check out my YouTube channel for green laning and Land Rover "how to" videos.

How has it performed over time? I would love to hear how it is wearing and what, if any problems you have had with the wrap.

Seems fins so far but only done one trip of note. You can see it in this video. Not exactly the tightest lanes I've done so not a full test yet.

One thing I did find was that when I got back one jest wash and all mud dropped off easy!

Netherlands 2000 Defender 90 Td5 SW Coniston Green
This week I had my roof and bonnet wrapped in matt black and it cost me € 850 including VAT. Because the car is still in the garage i can't make a picture and upload right now, but it looks very good. My 90 is Coniston Green.

I chose wrapping instead of spray paint because i prefer to have it temporary.

I heard that 3M wrap has 10 years warranty.

Anyone who follows my films will have seen I had my 110 vinyl wrapped about a year ago and have just recently removed it.

I've been asked a lot of questions about the process including why I took it off so I put this little piece together as a ‘show & tell’
