Thanks for the kind comments from all Bow down

In no particular order:

The fuel flap cover is a Defendoor, to keep the Censored out of the fuel cap area before it accumulates in the first place. They are only £6 from www.defendoor.co.uk.

The car is "she" simply because the S2A is known as "the old girl" (no idea why, she just is!). Also known as the "Bumpy car" by my kids, ever since we went on holiday in Yorkshire in 2004 and the rented house was at the top of a steep track and we were lent a 90 to go up and down in each day for the week. So, the kids don't call out "Defender" they spot "Bumpy cars".

As for the "old girl", she was fettled by the previous owner, Billy Hilton and his friend, Andy Jamieson, to enter the Macmillan 4 x 4 cancer challenge to raise as much as possible in 2007. The boys had entered in 2006 and got the hang of the event, then returned in the S2A in 2007 and won the event. The LRO article is at http://www.mac4x4.co.uk/2007lro.html on page 4 of the article.

When the time came to sell in 2009, I was very fortunate to become the next owner. After 17 years without a Series Land Rover, the memories came flooding back as soon as I got inside, with the smell of warm oil. Billy had picked me up from the station closest to his house after I won the car on eBay. A lot of tea later and with a CD of his photos of the competition, I was driving 130 miles home with my son and (she) never missed a beat. Mr. Green

4 years later and it will remain the car that puts the biggest smile on my face whenever I get in. My son is learning to drive with both the S2A and a more modern car but the indoctrination process has worked: he is determined to buy a Series 2/2A as soon as he can.

The new beast doesn't have a name and will be unashamedly a road queen as my daily drive. I am not yet sure whether she will be a long term "keeper" but I am making sure she can be, with the visit to Zagato pending. The only modifications (so far) are the upgraded Alpine audio, the fuel flap cover and a Mud Stuff cargo net but I am looking at tinting the back of the car from the B pillar (though I am looking VERY enviously at the Landyglass). I will probably wait until the Spring now, to save a few pennies towards either tinting or Landyglass. 1970 Series 2A 88"

Congratulations. You've been talking about the arrival of this vehicle for months so I'm pleased that you've finally been able to take possession. Darren

Picked the 110 up from Zagato tonight.

Fantastic job with incredible attention to detail. Bow down

Thanks, Chris, I can now rest easy knowing it has been done. Mr. Green

Good timing too since I have been using the S2A for the past week until the car could be done, and the handbrake cable went "ping" this morning. Big Cry 1970 Series 2A 88"

Embarassed

I am sure you must be right as I am a mechanical numpty.

I will check the manual tomorrow but whatever tensions it went ping this morning as I applied the brake. Felt slack then nothing so had to leave it in gear on the slight slope. 1970 Series 2A 88"

Great stuff and great looking truck. The best Defender combo there is, but then I would say that!

The dealer thing must be used across the dealer network as Stafford LR did the same with out Evoque, certainly makes you feel pretty special doesn't it. Nice touch. Craig Rogers
