What back are you planning on putting on it? A mate of mine has a DC, and has his mounted on the rear quarter panel of the tub, just to the left of the drivers side rear brake light An engine to TDi for!

Thanks,
Will keep fabric tilt at first, but probably will go for a Trojan back in time and after much saving. Also not sure if whips have progressed since my last install. Andy |

Gutter mounts always come off whilst off road and then cause damage, so it's a no for them.
But I have found this http://www.4x4cb.com/public/item.cfm?itemID=2105 Which can be mounted at different angles compared to the standard base mount. |

The type of mount above fits a truck cab/double cab. Just mount it below the gutter line. The coil of the aerial can rub on the gutter if it's a wider coil, so best if it's one of the slimline ones as shown there.
Had that setup on my 90 for a while when it was a truck cab. |

Would you mount it on the rear of the roof or c pillar (next to the rear quarter windows) 2004 TD5 Defender 90 xs station wagon

Thanks. That's what I was thinking. Other option is wing mount, opposite mount position to fm ariel.

Front wing mount would be good but range would be reduced slightly, but atleast you wont have to worry about low trees etc 2004 TD5 Defender 90 xs station wagon

Yes thought range would be reduced by this position, so thought would upgrade from standard whip to high power one.
Any one any experience of them? |
