Rock/Tree Sliders ... Dont look right!
Hi All,

Finally got around the putting the side rails on. Got them from the bay and after some attacking of the standard rails with a grinder, I finally got them off, ready for the new'uns ...

Now I know I wasn't expecting perfection, but do these look right to anyone else? The gap's look all wrong and huge.

There's only one corner that sort of seems to sit correct.

As far as I can tell, the mounting points are all where they should be and no real sign of abuse!!?!

I'm a fan of tree sliders and I recon the brackets are in the wrong place . Top of slider should be millimetre perfect with bodywork as shown in my pic . The end of the slider should bolt securely onto the
front and rear wheel arch they're defo not for that vehicle .

On the TD5 the front of the sliders have a couple of mm gap. The rears were about 10mm out.
I cut down the old sills and made a filler plate that I bolted on using the original sill mounts.

Door to slider has a 10/12 mm gap.

Taazz
If you want to use them then go down Bobs route and start cutting , fileing and anything to make them look and fit better . I will send you a better pic in the daylight . As you see she is in me garage , polished , waxoyled and sitting on her Axminster carpet . Bow down

I bought a pair of tree sliders for my old 300Tdi and had to grind off one of the tubes and weld it back on about 1/4 inch higher as it was fouling the rear quarter panel,I suspect this was down to Land Rovers N A F I ( near as fek it) production tolerances. 2005 Td5 90 XS

I have a welder and have done a little welding, but don't have the confidence to go welding something that's chassis based yet!

*Grumbles*

Was all excited about these to! Liking the extra little step

Just not happy as even though solid ... That gap just makes them look wrong and like they're about to fall off lol!

Ahh, I'm with you ...

That I would be happy with, but not sure what to do. Dont know whether to flog em on eBay and maybe take a 30-40% loss and get some from a more reliable source (the guy I bought from has had some Negs recently and has nothing for sale now, so the chance of getting a fix is highly unlikely) and fit those!

Or mod ... :/ ... Not adverse to mode, just dont like doing it on 'new' kit ... Never worked with Galvanised either before!

Hmmmm ...

Does anyone have any recommendations for a similar style slider around £100-120 that actually fits? Doesn't have to be galvanised either.

If like mine your front mounting bolts on to the bulkhead outrigger that is simply a matter of filing out the holes in the brackets to raise them a bit. 2005 Td5 90 XS

Yep ! Get down your local steelworks , fabricators , welders . Give him the correct measurements and let him make em up from solid material to your spec . Take home and paint . Forget the companies , you won't be appy .

Lou, if it was indeed just the front, i'd of had it sorted by now, but sadly one of the rear's is out to! Hence it being a little more tricky!

Keith, think I may go down that route, but wont be able to do that for a couple weeks. Still, will give them a look over and think, see if I can find a resolution, or just be patient (not my greatest trait Razz)!!!

Poss worth going back to the seller and ask him for a refund. If you bought using Paypal you can raise dispute on the transaction - it starts a process which is very straightforward and can be effective.
