Hello,
For the anti corrosion warranty to be valid the vehicle will need to have had the yearly corrosion checks done. These checks are done at the dealership. Many Thanks Mike |

Sorry for the hijack - can you tell me if the side steps on an XS Defender (which I believe are factory fitted) are covered by the 6 year anti corrosion warranty? Mine are bubbling along the top surface under the powder coating - and not through any damage? Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

Hello,
The side steps are not covered under the corrosion warranty. The corrosion warranty covers body panels. Many Thanks Mike |

To honest it is very difficult to say without seeing pictures.
However I would strongly recommend you book it in with your local dealer sooner rather then later. Many Thanks Mike |

To be clear about this. If the side steps were an original LR accessory, and were put on by LR from when the car was new, any and all corrosion on them, so not only perforating corrosion, would be covered by the 3 year factory corrosion warranty, correct? I understand that the 3 year factory corrosion warranty covers any and all rust on the entire vehicle, not only body panels, and not only perforating corrosion. It is only from the day after the car turns 3 years old, and until the car turns 6 years old, that the corrosion warranty is limited to perforating rust only of body panels. Can you please confirm that this is all correct? Believe there is a lot of confusion about all this. Tks, Eric You never actually own a Defender. Very diplomatic, stock answer......
Truth....From real experience. Doubt it!!!! See quote below. Stick with it and you may broker a deal to your benefit perhaps? You'll still have to shell out yourself though initially.

I would have considered it more helpful to the people on here if you'd made the second statement in the first post rather than wait to be challenged further? That way it would not have the appearance that you are being economical with the truth |

It actually is all very clearly described in our vehicle warranty booklets, or on the following LR weblink accessable by all of us.
http://www.landrover.com/gb/en/lr/owners/w...ssistance/ When you read it carefully, I do not see much possibility for misinterpretation there. One more thing, carefully read the section of "perforating" corrosion. I don't think that bubbling paint fall under that denominator. There has to be an actual hole. IMO, written very clearly again. Mike answered the specific question asked - if they were covered by the anti-corrosion warranty.
He wasn't to know that the answer to a different, more general, question (along the lines of "what warranty are they covered by") was wanted by some 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

really
Actually the question asked was:
which I think states the real question is he has an issue with his steps he'd like resolving - and I'd have hoped for a FULL answer rather than the POOR answer given. Do LR really need apologists for them now!!! Last edited by Supacat on 11th Sep 2013 4:00pm. Edited 1 time in total |

I'm sure Mike can stand up for himself/LR but I am allowed to express my opinion!
Frankly, there's no need to be rude (accusing Mike of being economical with the truth). 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |
