Switzerland 2009 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SVX Station Wagon Santorini Black
Got the SVX back from the dealer where it was for its scheduled maintenance, a last further 1 year extension of the extended warranty and service contract, and for replacement of the fuel breather pipe (which commented with pics on separate thread here). As usual I also asked a very thorough greasing of everything greasable, more is better than just enough...., and this time dealer called me that one of the propshaft greasing nipples went missing and they had to order a new one. Delievery of that took an extra day, but now the SVX is tip top again. When I went to get it back, they put it back on the ramp for me so that we jointly could take a look underneath. Dinitrol is still as perfect as on day one, and dealer commented that he suspects that mine is not a real Defender as there is not one single leak anywhere after 5 years. Probably a chinese clone I have... Shocked Thumbs Up You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Steve, about 64.000 now. 90% of which I did in the first 3.5 years. Now it is getting cherished the longer the more, not driving it in the rain, virtually not in the winter when it is either under the carport at home or sometimes for weeks at length in my underground office parking..... Even with the full Dinitrol treatment I will not let it get in touch with salt. A bit like you did in the beginning with the ICE Laughing , I remember several years ago you writing here that you would not drive it other than in dry conditions. I can easily do that here because of our incredibly good and efficient public transport. You know what I mean with that. Cool
Took the day off today making the bridge between our Jeûne Genevois yesterday, and the weekend. Going to put the second row original seat covers on which I bought at Autobritt, and which match the SVX covers that are already on. Thumbs Up
Eric

Edit: 2nd row seatcovers done, was a 20 minute job. I opted for not installing the covers on the headrests, leaving those as they are. Very pleased with how the two front rows look now, and hopefully will keep the leather underneath in shape for the next 30 years or so, that is til the next generation takes over Defender duty. Thumbs Up

Finished putting Dinitrol in the doors today - all done now Very Happy

Then fitted my new steering wheel (Mota Lita)and really pleased with how it looks compared to the old one (which was just too bland and not a great tactile experience). Hopefully photos below....

Yesterday decided to replace the rear capping where the brake and indicator lights are.
Removed the old one and test fitting the new freshly painted capping and all fitted OK. A couple of additional holes in the capping for rivets. With all looking well, used some Skiaflex to seal behind the capping and then rivets to secure it all in place..
Stood back happy with the work and decided to fit the lights. Nope. The holes in the capping iare too small for the rear part of the light to fit in. Screw holes are correct.
So today will be out with the dremel to make the hole wider. 1999 Defender TD5 110

After literally years of searching I finally managed to source a set of 90 station wagon rear window/side trims at a decent price this month and so I got the tools out yesterday and finished off trimming out the back of the car properly. I've based it on the factory trim applied to modern utility station wagon vehicles.

Much better than bare metal as per factory or the carpet-covered plywood I had in there before.

Cheers. No plans for the headlining as of yet but it's definitely on the to-do list. Roof needs covering on the underside anyway to keep the condensation at bay and then I'll decide whether to try and revive the headlining I've got fitted now or replace with new or try and come up with something better of my own creation.

Since last night we have massive rains here, so did nothing with the Defender today. Just left it under car port cover all day, and it may stay there a little longer if this continues.

Went to LRO show in 110. First long trip out after being built and she performed well. Was hoping that as I had my vehicle there and in the showground I would be able to take it to Exmoor's stand to trial fit their new 2nd row seats as they aren't cheap and I need more convincing........but they hadn't got any there Sad

Bought some Enteq rear wheelarch plates and stainless vent pins from Brendan and seatbox corner protectors from YRM Very Happy Thumbs Up

LRO show for me too. One of the best ones I've been too - weather was great.

Had a chat with Chris at CSK (the sound system in the black 90 is just superb - the toons sounded brilliant). Got all the bits I need for my Defender 50th rebuild - most of which came from rummaging in the 'odds and ends' boxes of Duckworths/Exmoor and not from the general breakers. I now realise that I have a problem as I can remember Genuine part parts numbers from memory and therefore don't need to open boxes to see what's inside.... Rolling Eyes Cheers,

Fitted HD steering rod. The tracking rod I did friday already becouse the original I had bent a week earlier. But ran out of time to fit the rest due to weather and a planned party.

Had so much fun doing that, and to think I never did anything on a car only a few week ago. Feels good Milestone
