New Defender 90, Project... Delivery date 1st Jan 2014
Ive just ordered a new defender 90 to be delivered in March next year (6 months time i know). Do any of you know what sort of MPG i will realiisticly get from it? Also is there companies out there that can do a re map? if so can any one give me more information on power increases and fuel economy please.

That is what i have gone for

Im also trying to sell my old TD5 110 Hi cap, 2000, 120k

I have an 09 90, the best fuel economy fill up to fill up is 31 mpg the worst is 27, that was towing a trailer with 2 motorcycles on up the m6, I have big wheels that alters the accuracy of the speedo, I think it makes it more accurate, it used to read over, now it seems about right, but I think the tyres have a negative effect on mpg, I have a re map from monster tuning, not sure how much difference it makes as I had it done as soon as I got it..... I do very little motorway so the 31 was just knocking around driving carefully

Thanks for replying, but the one I've ordered is the new 2.2, so I'm wondering about that engine really

Is say (although I have a 110 2.4) it depends entirely on how you drive, as with any car.

I can get anywhere from 23-29 and I reckon a 90 may do 1 or 2 better.

Top gear did a test where they had a Prius and an m3 going round the track, both at the top speed of the Prius (the m3 just had to keep up) and the Prius did 13/14 and the m3 17/18... I also found that my mpg is steadily increasing as I get less heavy footed and think ahead more, there's no need to go flat out in a defender! You always end up getting to the same speed as the traffic anyway!

Looks very nice, which trim? Base/county/xs? Cheers, David

Power, torque, weight are all the same so mpg should be very similar. Unless you sit at 90mph of course! (2.4 limited to 82) Cheers, David

After 4,700 miles in my 2.2 I'm getting 28mpg, mostly driving carefull but some low range included so a reasonable mix.

Very nice. I have a 2.4 110 and reckon I get about 28 so it's going to be around that figure, give or take. Anyway I'd like to think you're not going to be that worried about fuel economy otherwise you wouldn't have bought a Defender, so just fill it when it needs it would be my advice and enjoy your wonderful car!

If you guys order a "90", that say has a few options, & has to be built for you, what is the wait in the U.K?
Cheers, Pickles.

In a 110 with a winch and wider 265/75 tyres I'm getting 31.5 round the doors and 32.5 with some motorway. Oh and there's usually a big generator and other recovery gear in the back too.

As others have said, a lighter 90 should return more pro rata.
