I knew I should have listened to you.

I've found a new dealer Confused

I'm gonna do it myself from now.....or at least I'm gonna try, and where trying isn't good enough I'm tempted to ask for the parts and get someone reputable to sort it even if I have to pay the labour.

assuming its not something too expensive like an engine replacement - in which case got any suggestions as to where I should try?

Big Cry

ps. what do you know about viscous fans (nobody has responded to my other topic Sad )

I dont know how you have stayed sane, I would have bricked the dealers windows and scratched all the cars by now if they messed me about like you have been.

Any chance you can let us know who you were using so we can all avoid them.

Also what have LR head office had to say about all this, its one for Watchdog, the power of the internet may also raise a reaction, I think they should be giving you a new vehicle by now, have you got a good solicitor.

Keep posting on here I makes me realise how lucky Ive been that mine has not been so afflicted and Im hoping this will ultimately have a happy ending

My sympathies

Rob Thumbs Up DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

Caterham, may I make a suggestion ?

Years ago I had constant problems with a Citroen Xantia. The dealers either were not interested or just did not spend the necessary time to investigate. Then I realised something. I lived in Slough at the time. Citroen's UK Headquarters were in Slough so one day I turned up and politely asked to see their Managing Director. I waited for half an hour. One of their directors (not the MD but senior enough) accompanied by a small entourage of sycophants/note takers ushered me into an office and listened patiently while I politely but firmly made my case. There was lots of ' I'm so sorry to hear' and 'We always try to put our customers first' - the usual corporate guff but to get to the point my problems were fixed very quickly with regular updates from their UK technical manager. So what if they thought ' What do we need to do to get this Ahole off our backs ?' Face to face works.

Now wait a minute. You live in Birmingham. LR HQ is in Solihull. Write down your issues and pop over to them. Don't phone - you'll get fobbed off. There will be someone senior there who will want to get you off their back. Don't come back later. Say 'Its OK I'll wait. I bet you won't be waiting long.

Corny but true. The squeaky wheel gets the oil ! Thumbs Up

Rob, some might argue I'm not sane....

I think I'm at the end of the road with my problems now....or at least factory based ones.

the bonnet catch is very minor but just another reminder of how useless the local dealer (or their monkey in the workshop is that doesn't get watched closely enough). I have to say I believe for the most part the management side of things give me confidence in getting the job done and wanting to help (thats the impression at least).

anyhow, once they've sent me some new carpets and bonnet cable I think I'm as close to sorted as I'll ever be.

Thumbs Up Very Happy

given egr and maf sensors a clean and had injectors / fuel pump learnt (big thank you to IRB) so a bit of time and hopefully I can report back to say all is good.

Any more major issues Rossy and I might just take a trip over to Solihull (and probably should have months ago).

I'm starting to think that your Defender and my BMW are brothers from another mother. One year left until it's out of my life forever! www.td5.org

As time goes on i'm realising just how hopeless the muppets really were at the steallers....
Come to do a service and firstly I'm thinking they didn't bother to change the filter and then I noticed that the air box lid has been broken!!! Nothing detrimental but annoying all the same
