Think I know what dealership manager you're on about, took a photo last time I was in there:-  Click image to enlarge I can never figure out what he's saying unless of course he takes his head out his ar5e first!  If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

went back to dealer after trip to see private defender dealer .......had stand up arguement with manager in front of loads of custemers ....MAGIC worked treat took car back then and there waited hour got back with new egr MAKES NO NOISE AT ALL think every one with loud egr should try it ,
dealer very sorry said is there anything else i need thought tow bar and eletrics and guess what got one FREE + fitting went back to private dealer orderd zu alloys and bfgs ats just gos to show they not soposed to make that noise  |

Mine has always done it and I always wondered what it was. You learn something every day  One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

My puma just got to 2100km yesterday and started doing this noise when switching off - quite scary at first.

I think they all do it, that's normal (although some seems to be louder than others). Funny thing, yesterday, a TDCi Ford Transit just stopped nearby and I clearly heard the exact same sound! |

My 2010 Defender 90 XSstarted to make a squeaking noise when changing gear some time ago. I thought it was the clutch so greased the pedal spring etc. Then the noise happened on starting the engine and switching off the engine, when the clutch wasn’t engaged. The squeaks have got more frequent and louder over time. On switching of the engine there is now quite a loud screeching sound for a few seconds together with a buzz. Any ideas? Could it be the egr valve?
