So I've had a parrot asteroid (single DIN) in my defender for the last 6-8 months now, and it's absolutely bloody fantastic.
The hands free works perfectly even over all the noise, the voice recognition is the best I've ever seen on any radio and the number of sources/inputs is better than any other radio I've seen - 4xUSB, iPod, iPhone, 3.5mm, SD, Bluetooth streaming, FM, Internet radio etc etc etc. After the first software update, the OS is very solid too! Only complaint- there's no way to skip to a fav. radio station when you're on manual FM (I use manual when I'm in Wales as Radio 1 moves around and it sometimes doesn't change freq quick enough) Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

A couple of people have had their Parrot Asteroid die on them that's why! A quick search would have revealed the answer to your question especially with a unique word such as 'Asteroid.' In mitigation I have one that has been fitted for over two years and I have had no problems whatsoever. Then again I've only ever carried out one single software upgrade in that time. Best philosophy in my view is 'If it ain't broke don't fix it!' A few threads here about the various failures and problems experienced. 'Mess with it and the software at your peril.'

Why offer updates that corrupt the thing?? Am I missing something here?? Surely they must be red faced about that, or is it a blame the customer affair when they know it's their files that cause it.. No Guts, No Glory.

Steve, sending it back, the possibility of a fix and then knocking it on or refitting may very well be worth the minimum effort? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

I agree with Mal. Have it fixed sell it one and then put the money to some other better goodies. No Guts, No Glory.

Hmm, strange. Guess I'm unique.
I've never found a HU which is anywhere near as good as my asteroid, can't live without the voice recognition! It's better than the sony/pioneer alternatives for speech recognition certainly, and (touch wood) it's never failed me! Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

But sometimes it gets its knickers in a twist and I don't get any sound out of it and I either remove front and start again or just push the reset button and away it goes It's good to be back from the dark side DC110 -2012 Black with black hood and black x-tech FFRR 4.2 vogue Renault traffic auto PT crusier convertible Laika x700 Motorhome |
