England 2002 Defender 110 Td5 SW Coniston Green
After a few days of intermittant starting faults today was the day it decided to say NO. The root cause is a leaking fuel pressure regulator(in hand waiting for bits to arrive) which is doing its usual thing of dripping onto the starter. Got caught out big time today ending up having to push start the 110 to get home, straight after parking out with the tools, bridging across the solonoid confirmed nothing wrong with the motor so with a bit of contortionism I took the cover off the solonoid, pulled out the plunger and lo and behold the thing was as black as the Ace of Spades. Liberal dosing of contact cleaner on the plunger and internal contacts, put it all back together and instant starting again. All in all it took me about 20 minutes from getting the tools out and cleaning them up and putting them away.

Nice, I reckon dark green version would also work very well with Keswick.

Ok, not yet my land rover but went over to the dealers to sort out some paperwork ready for collection on Thursday.

Finally got to see it, from a distance and through some locked gates - though I might be picky I reckon that number plate could do with moving half an inch to the left! Whistle

^^^^ Excellent!! Thumbs Up

I finally sorted the (non existant) brakes out on the 110. after fitting new discs and calipers on the front, and new pads on the back, I had naff all braking.

Then after swapping the servo and vacuum pump, it turned out to be a leaking O ring between the master cylinder and servo.

Got some instant gasket in there. nicely sealed now! Whistle

Finally got around to taking all four wheels off and cleaning the rear faces, springs etc etc and spraying the bits I didn't get at earlier in the week when using the Dinitrol Very Happy

Resisted washing it until I can spend an appropriate amount of time to do it properly.

Loaded up the 110 with bikes and hitched the 'van up to return from holiday and the Great Dorset Steam Fair. Lots of Defenders there Thumbs Up

The Defender performed faultlessly and the trip was without incident, except for a mild panic when faced with a low bridge in Salisbury Shocked This resulted in a quick stop in a layby and a hasty session with a tape measure to check the height over the bikes on the roof. Fortunately, they were just over eleven feet and the bridge was thirteen Laughing Darren

Puma seats fitted
Had some fabrication done here in Dubai at Saluki Motorsport to get a set of 2011 Puma/TDCI rear seats put into my TD5 110DC. Awesome job! Still amazed at the additional weight of the seats! Might have justification for an Alive re-map now.....

@ Diesel Jim, this is the second time in 2 years but I'm not overly convinced as I did get a drip on the bleed sequence. I've a feeling that the valve body itself is the problem but at least it's not constantly dripping as it has been. I should have gone the extra mile and got a new valve instead of being a cheapskate, time will tell Rolling Eyes

Ha ha, been there and got that tshirt. Its nerve racking isnt it. I now have all the heights of my caravan, LR, roof bars, roof box & bikes written on the inside of the windscreen in both centimetres & inches.

When I know Im going to be driving with the bikes on the roof I often drive the route on Google street view first, checking for bridges. Sad aint it!! Confused
