Booked & paid for today (Thurs). So 2 LRE in Sept & the last trec from LRE of 2013 in October.. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

So 3 booked in then for the day on Sunday.
More than slightly disappointing if i am honest. it took some persuasion to LRE that we were an active forum and they should put the day on for us. I have to agree James. There was a lot of interest but very low take up.
I know that Richard (Big Wheels), myself and the other forum member booked will have a good time 
Lucky we are not charged for PM's the number I sent trying to drum up support

James, I am so sorry to hear of the disappointing take up, especially after the effort you and others have put in. It is pretty shameful, really, and doesn't do much for the credibility of this forum.
Were it not for the clash with the Dorset County Show, which I did make clear from the outset, I'd jump at the chance (we're listed in the program and advertisements so really can't get out of it). I hope those who do attend have a good day. I am sure you will! |

it is disappointing, i beleive they will cancel the day as they can't run with 3 vehicles which is a crying shame. Cheers

The May Defender day had people not on this forum. 3 of us means only 7 more needed! Enough may join as its not until 8th Sept (& trecs have run with 6 or 7 in the past).
Perhaps 8th Sept is unfortunate as the weekend before school term time begins. If cancellation looks likely, perhaps moving to later September or October would be an option, if LRE WC can manage that? It's also the same weekend as the biggest land rover show in the UK. And that's why I can't attend.

Bob, as Defenders especially on this forum are enthusiast vehicles, can you point this out to LRE WC. They could postpone. I'm easy with any other Sunday apart from 20/10, which is the last standard trec this year, I've already booked for. i think you will find the landowner is the one selecting the dates. the only 2 given to LRE were shown as above. Cheers

Its a shame that there is low take up for this event and I'd like to thank those who put in the effort to try and get it going, but the original post was 18th June, I expressed interest in the 8th Sept on 20th June and again on 6th July.
It wasn't until 6th August that the date was confirmed (for whatever various reasons) and phone booking could be made, eight weeks is a long time and it didn't look like it was going to happen so, in that time other arrangements had been made to go to Peterborough show. I guess if the original post offered the option to book there and then that it would be oversubscribed! This is a definite 'must do ' trip for me and Mrs H so if another date can be arranged that we can book then I'll be on it.
