Odd incident after disconnecting/connecting battery
Hi guys, had to take the battery out so I could clean up/neutralise some spilled acid (breathing tube battery had dislodged) and water that had gotten in during some wading.

After putting everything back and reconnecting it, started the truck but the battery light stayed on and the water gauge went to the top. The UltraGauge didn't boot either. ... switched everything off and tried again a couple of times. No joy. Waited a minute or two, tried again and everything back to normal!?!?

Did a search on the site and only this 2-year-old post from "doublea" showed up

Barney,

My 2009 110 cut out on me the other day, water temp gauge went to the top, battery light on, but no engine management or glow plug light.

AA came out, the chap new exactly what the problem was - The wiring loom in the engine bay had been chafing against the lifting loop and blew the fuse. He'd seen the problem on another defender a few days before. Still took him an hour to locate the fuse. He taped up the wires and the vehicle is booked in to the local dealer.

Previously, my aircon was giving problems - compressor switching on and off by itself, fan not coming on when aircon selected, not sure but i think this is connected.

No chafing wiring loom here, no blown fuses and no cutting out engine, the UltraGauge doesn't show any codes either ...

Just curious if anybody had this happen or has a clue what this could have been?

Thanks guys! Thumbs Up

Guess either could be the culprit. Next time will unplug the UltraGauge before disconnecting battery ...

Just glad "it" sorted itself.
