How to remove the rear sliding screens
Hi,

I have desperately searched for but not found any description of how the later style sliding windows can be removed.
Instead Iīve only read that the complete window assy is glued in which wouldnīt help in taking it apart.
Who knows how the sliding screens are removed ?

I want to have some tinting film applied to the glass and the guy who is about to do that prefers to have the screens on the bench for a better result.

When I looked into it for our '06 90 I was informed that I had the new-type 'glued' sort of sliding frame that can't be taken out without destroying the glass/frame ...

Had I bought a '05 or '55 it would have had the 'bolted in frame which can be unbolted and the glass remove easily for film/tinting ...

So guess depends on teh age and whether you are lucky or unlucky in what they had on the shelf at Lode Lane on that day Confused

Up to around 2005 ? the rear side windows were riveted in and relatively easy to remove. Later rear side windows are, as stated above, bonded in.

I am sure somebody will be along to tell you how to remove the bonded version soon - probably involves a sharp implement Shocked

That will certainly do the job Glyn Laughing

Just found this

For bonded type:
Use your stylus knife to cut the bonding between the frame and vehicle
side panel. Eventually your frame will be loose and will come away from
the vehicle body

If in the process, the surfaces are dented or damaged, flatten them out as
best you can.

Clean the surfaces surrounding the aperture to remove any dirt or grease.

@Glyn:

Well, so neednīt I remove the panels inside ? Just start cutting from outside? It looks like there is a 1-2mm thick rubber gasket between the frame and the side panel.
The Window assy itself looks like it will split. Somehow "they" will have had to assemble it.

What I not quite like is that service to the seals etc. looks like being a nuisance now. (though I think there is a way of replacing the gutter seals with the screens in situ).
