Hi,
We went past castle Neuschwanstein last summer, it was nice to see and walk up to but we did not pay to tour. I was quite disappointed when I found out how old it was! Thought it was hundreds of years old, nearly new it is 
We were en-route to Lake Garda and had no camping plans, everywhere in Fussen was fully booked, we found a beautiful campsite on Lake Plansee near lahnwald, it sits on the North shore just as it gets wider again. We liked it and stayed a further 2 nights. When we turned up there was a traditional Austrian band playing. Plansee made us giggle too as Plan A and B were fully booked 
edit: just seen where you are, I am camping at Doward Park a week on Friday/Saturday near Symonds Yat. Nice area to live |

Always good to know of other campsite
 just found it on Google Earth
Are the pitches a set size or just an open field? As we will have the trailer with us. |

All different sizes, its on a hill and pitches are cut into the side and the one we had would easily accommodate a trailer.
Another site was Camping Fornella at Lake Garda, we had a pitch by the lake. Very nice but wont go back, a bit too busy for us. Another site near Lauterbrunnen was Camping Jungfrau, http://www.truemmelbachfaelle.ch/ is worth a visit |

We are planning on stopping at Camping jungfrau for 3/4 days as the area looks stunning
Same question again what are the pitch sizes like as Castle Sonic takes a lot of space  |

Should be ok there too, on the plot we had though you would have to manual the trailer to one side. It is beautiful but we had poor weather
Maybe e-mail and call with your requirements. 4 weeks is going to be great, we drove the passes rather than the tunnels. Stelvio, Gotthard etc Steve Plansee

Apologies for digging up an old thread. I have enjoyed watching coverage of the Breslau rallye on youtube and would like to go out to watch next year. Is it a spectator friendly event and will spectator information be available in the days leading up to the event? I realise that the event covers quite a bit of distance but I am happy to deal with that.

Hi there, this year we offered a package for people to camp at each Bivouac which included all meals. There are plenty of areas that you could watch it each day

We drove to Italy last year in the Defender via the San Bernard pass to Peschiera del Garda, we stayed at Bella Italia a large site but a great position. Sirmione is well worth a visit on the lake as was Verona as its not far & Venice unfortunately Dgardel was in Sicily. On the way back we camped at Baveno on Lake Maggiore and visited Isola Bella & Superiore.

Click image to enlarge About 60 days to get from Cyprus to Italy- what an experience... But then the bore of normal Western Europe after so only took 3 days from there. I would say that if you want a better holiday with less of a tourism feeling head East. Bows- good to see another Cardi on the site

Keith, I was 50:50 on the places...... can't say I will be rushing back there.
I found Georgia to be beautiful, and the people are soo friendly (but everyone in Eastern Europe are compared to UK). I enjoyed the mountains the most (and 'The Hanger' in Tblisi  ). But the more time I spent the the more I disliked the place.
You had Batumi and the whole coast area which was very expensive (for Eastern Europe not UK) and the people were hard working and wanted to make money- it was the same for Tblisi, but WAY too busy for my liking. The mountain folk were just mountain folk- they just carry on no matter what. The rest seemed to be out of work and waiting for someone to come along and give them a better life. I kept away from touristy areas as I prefer to get into the main population and how they live. It seems that when they broke away from the Soviet rule they were promised a bright future........ but no-one said they would have to work for it. I had a great time- Gori (drinking free beer in the Stalin park) staying in Rooms hotel in Kazbegi, the mountain pass to the Tusheti area where there is no electricity etc. I will be doing an article for the site once I get my life sorted
Borders wise: I entered from Turkey at Vale- it is a smaller crossing and many people recommended it as the one at Sarp is always crazy busy and a whole load of hassle- my crossing took no more than 10 mins from arriving at the entry point. The countryside on either side of the border is much nicer than the built up coast area- but it is remote-I then stayed the first night in the resort town of Bakuriani- I would love to go there in the winter. I then left through Poti..... an experience I never wish to go through again. A 40hr ferry to Ukraine that took 4 days. Glyn  |

that has to be one of the best replays to a question Ever . Now If that's not an incentive to other Adventure seeking defender drivers then I don't know what is . I really enjoyed reading that . Thanks . |
