Peterborough show question

Hi,
Am planning to drive up to Peterborough this year and was going to camp.. But.. father in law wants to come which is great but he is 70 and not a camping fan..

so..
I noticed there is a holiday inn/travel lodge within a few 100 yds. but what goes on in the evening there and would staying locally still work? anything put on or just people gathering round bbq's and a few beers?

There's a bar on site open in the evenings, was some fun fair rides last year (bumper cars, waltzers etc!), and some live music IIRC.
