Germany 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Baltic Blue
Got all the gear but still need to fit my setup - 2 PC1500s and BlueSea kit (Mobile Centre).
A bit expensive to have sitting in the garage but so far I've been too chicken to start the job Embarassed Rolling Eyes Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Question about battery terminals. I read on the Odyssey website that different batteries have different terminal connector types.
For instance the PC1500 which is named here has "SAE" or "SAE and 3/8”Stud (Pos.) 5/16” Stud (Neg.)" or " TOP SAE
SIDE 3/8” Receptacle" terminal connectors.
The PC1700 then again has "M6 Receptacle†or SAE 3/8” Receptacle" terminal connectors.
The PC1350 has "DIN lead post" terminal connectors.

Which terminal connectors are used in our Puma on the original ex factory Land Rover Varta single battery?

Hope it is the same DIN lead post as on the PC1350, as that is the one I am interested in to replace my original Varta. (No need for dual battery in my case)

The standard configuration is the SAE type, which comprises two slightly conical studs of 3/8" and 5/16".

The PC1350 won't fit without altering the connectors on the cables, I'm afriad. Darren

Found an old thread on this subject, and tatra805's extensive comments seem a wealth of educational information. After absorbing all this, seems LR made a pretty educated choice for their OEM battery in the Puma. Don't see much reason for replacement to look further than that same one anymore, both for quality and price. Thumbs Up

Quick update and encouragement to others perhaps:

Took me about 5 hours in total, of which 1 hour was spent drinking tea and scratching my head (there goes more hair Rolling Eyes )
I also left the underseal to dry a bit for an hour (covered bottom of battery box and underneath with it).
The only problems I had were:
a) with my setup, one of the + battery terminals is jammed under the top of the seat box sides - you can see where I've jammed a black plastic panel to make absolutely sure there are no shorts.
b) I needed to remove the original earth connector and crimp on a ring terminal. I was expecting it to be 35mm2 but it's a tiny bit larger (probably some LR non-standard size) - botched it for now - hopefully the 50mm2 terminals will arrive soon Thumbs Up
Big thanks to bpman for all his help and of course Tim at mobilecentre for providing the raw materials Bow down
Cheers
Matt

Thanks, yes it's there now. Earlier there was just a 'photobucket' placeholder and no image Shocked

All good now. I'm putting the same setup and just wanted some visual cues as to how you had installed everything.

Thanks Thumbs Up

There is a good article here about fitting a twin battery setup...
