England 2005 Defender 110 Td5 XS CSW Cairns Blue
Stolen Green Td5 90HT - Billericay overnight 11th August
From LandyWatch

Stolen overnight Sun/Mon 11/12 August 2013

Quote:
Landrover Defender 90 TD5 Hardtop, reg GJ51 YGD. Classic looking coniston green with white roof and white steel wheels. In excellent condition for a 12 yr. old landy, about 76,000 miles on clock. Only had it for 7 weeks. Front centre seat removed and replaced by a cubby box. Has been marked up with a plate saying "STOLEN FROM CM12 0NA", but I'm not saying where at this stage in case the scumbags read this forum.

Going by the debris left on the drive and its relative position, I would say that that the 100A cable (brown) going to the under seat fuse box has been cut. If you trace this back on the circuit diagram you can see what a weakness this is, I would reckon that the only way round it is to use an armoured flexible conduit. Police didn't seem the slightest bit interested when I told them. Final insult was the security pedal guard I ordered a few weeks ago finally turned up this morning.

Owner had problems registering on LandyWatch, so I posted on his behalf. I've got his contact details if necessary

Is it ok to post the method in such detail as to how this was stolen,I think a line of some wires were cut would be a little less info for possible further thefts

The less detail the better but I think the "issues" are fairly common knowledge amongst the crooks.

Hmm, in the past perhaps I'd have agreed that the less detail the better but I'm now more in the school of thought that people need to know so that they can take appropriate steps.

Most of the time the owners know less than the thieves and will continue to do so unless we all become part of those in the know.

I don't intend to amend my original post here or indeed elsewhere but I will flag it to Martin and let him call it for this forum. Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless.
