110 High Cap Rear Wheel Carrier
Ok, so i bought the carrier last year at the an auto jumble for £20. its been sat in my shed, so today i had a hour spare so i decided to have a play, and i dont fancy paying £400+ for a front runner one. There is still a lot more work to be done making it fit properly and strengthening it up. But here is a few pictures.

One thing im concerned about though is when the tailgate is open the side seems to be very flimsy as it was supported by the tailgate

I have the one from Front Runner on the truck.

When you open the tail gate the side where the carrier attaches too flexes and bends outward a tad. - I presume that is what you are talking about right?

The carrier's been on there for 5-6 months now. The flexing didn't get worse and and no play or rattles, even on some of the rudimentary roads here.

If you like some close up pics of how the front runner attaches to the car you can PM me an email address and I will take some.

Why not make it so it fixes to the rear cross member and then up to the bottom of the tub. If you take the lights out and look down you should see a hole that can be enlarged to take a 12mm bolt. Then fix the carrier to the top of the tub as a locater bracket, the result would be that there wont be that much weight on the tub making it flex.

to stop the flex in the body im going put a bar from one side of the tub to the other side (im mounting a roof tent on the top of the tub)

The way its mounted now seems to be strong enough, i can hold my weight 13 stone, and the weight of the wheel.

so fingers crossed it doesnt snap off!
