Land Rover don't sell Defender anymore....
well thats the impression I'm getting.
had about 3 broschures from LR for different things and there's almost no mention of defender.
the local dealerships don't appear have either new or used defenders!!

wots going on?

oh and LR certainly don't want to provide any incentives in terms of finance packages comparable with the rest of the range.

or is it just me?

Bit of both I think Rolling Eyes

LR look like they are trying to move the defender to the side a bit with marketing, but one the other hand the dealers can't get enough Second Hand ones on their forecourts.

I ordered mine Friday, found it hard to get what i wanted on the forecourt and they are going for strong money, with 12 week delivery dates on new.

I was offered some competitive finance deals as well, but if you are good enough you can get a good margin off. Whistle

I would also say 30k for a def XS or 33k for a D4. My opinion would say there is alot more margin in a defender than D4 at those two prices, therefore why would they move away from the defender Exclamation

Might just be LR are pressing the premium side more than the utility. After all it is 1of 4of the range Thumbs Up

Defender is not what they are trying to sell. They make a whole load more money on Disco and RRSs. If they advertise too much you will have 'regular' people buying them and then complaining about the noise, handling, power etc and end up giving them a bad name.

My local dealer is the opposite to most dealerships as when you drive around the back thee are millions of defenders and only one or two RRs and Discos. With this in mind the Defender services there are awesome where most places look down on you as you have an 'agricultual' car.

We asked the same question re incentives when we bought from Caffyns in Lewes - we were told the demand for Defender outstripped supply and there was no need for incentives to be offered - when we were there we over heard a phone call underpinning the fact "No Sir sorry no Defenders but we can place you on a waiitng list".

If you check the dealership page today they only have 1 available. Actually it's even worse than that if you check the whole franchise - 13 dealerships in 4 counties - the only one for sale is the one currently at Lewes Shocked

However we were also told that it is very unclear how Landrover are going to proceed moving forward re the head in sand issue about conforming to safety regulations.

When looking we did find that all the LR dealers around us had a distinct lack of 90's and 110's and on each occasion we spoke to the sales team they were very careful to ensure we knew what to expect when wanting to buy a Defender!!! Defender 110 Puma Utility XS

Well a quick view of www.mobile.de tells me where they have all gone.
there are currently 272 2009 and above defenders of various body style for sale in Germany.
I know it doesn't help much if you are on the islands (GB and Ireland) or for that matter down under, but if you are a mainlander, it is worth the drive to get one there...a fire and ice with the extras (even a sun roof which I would like to have) is only 37K euros! 2008 Defender 110 60 year Edition (sold unfortunately)

Well I heard there was only one person in the whole of the UK that lived in west Sussex that actually liked them, so Land Rover took the huff.

I think you can get them in the Uk though not sure if anyone apart from People in West Sussex would want one Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

New Puma's are around...

Finalised my order for one today - and will actually be at the dealers next week.

So three working days from my order to delivery lol.

In saying that, its not quite the specification or the colour I ideally wanted... but they couldn't get what I actually wanted in time... with the scrapage scheme and a couple of other discounts it worked out at a very good price!! The only actual free-be was a full tank of fuel though.

And the extra's I wanted I will just fit myself - and at a cheaper price lol.

Is in Keswick Green.. with at the moment a white roof.. though this will soon change.

Wasn't my first choice of colour, but I do quite like it.

Will be a 'couple' of modifications made Whistle
