Hopefully that grabbed your attention.
I have an unused OEM NAS step for a Defender 90, which was never fitted to my vehicle (I ordered the wrong rear step by mistake, and never got round to sending it back). I really need the garage space now, and with a 'distraction' which is my mother receiving cancer treatment, I thought I'd offer it for free! The catches (there's always some) are these: - Although brand new and unused (well it was brand new when delivered two years ago, been sitting in the garage ever since), the step was very slightly damaged in transit. The box tore at one corner, allowing a tiny corner of the step to be scraped and bent. I have unbent it, and a minute amount of black paint (we're talking a few mm long) would make it unnoticeable. - For reason of torn box, I cannot guarantee that all the bolts are there. All the fittings/hardware should be, though. The bolts may all be there, I just can't guarantee it. - It's a heavy to ship, so for that reason I'd need it collected from my home, about 8 miles South of Stratford-upon-Avon. - Although I'm not asking for anything for the step, I AM asking you to donate something to charity. In view of my mum's illness, I've set up a Just Giving page for Macmillan Cancer Support. The most generous promise of a donation for that page, gets the step! The page is at: http://www.justgiving.com/James-Wiseman1. It's a brand new page, but my aim is to raise £5000 within a year. Wow!
Thanks, James for the offer, and special heartfelt thanks to pjb and Japseroony for the 'strings-free' donations to Macmillan which you made, which are really really touching. At the moment it looks like the step is Claire's. However, I'll leave it for a couple more days (if that's OK with everyone), and then send a PM to the 'winner'. You know what? Every so often, something happens which reaffirms your belief in humankind. So, thanks to Defender owners for doing that! 2010 110 XS USW (the slow one) 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ (the fast one) 2005 Ducati ST3 1954 Sunbeam S8 |

Sounds like we should do a drive for cancer sufferers as I know the felling of being told you mother or father has cancer, as my dad has it and I now donate every month
I'm not going to say it will be ok and say keep your chin up as just some times you may break down when you start thinking about it etc like I do as I some time think the worst but I will say try and enjoy every second you have and be happy |

Thanks, Stu.
That means a lot to me. It's that weird moment (in my case, and probably most people one you get to a certain age - I'm 45) when you realise that you are now the 'parent', and your parent is now the child. This week's been the worst - My mum was having chemotherapy, but broke her hip in hospital(!), and this meant she has had to stop chemo while she builds up her strength again, which may be 6 weeks. Unfortunately as most people know, generally cancer go 'on hold' in the mean time. But, she's an inspiration to me - I hope I'm as mentally strong and positive at her age, as she is now. Thanks all, once again for the lovely messages and donations - Really humbling! The general consensus seems (and it seems more than fair to me), that Claire is the deserving person for the NAS step. Claire, I'll PM you separately. Thanks again, guys (And girls).
