Honda (unlike Land Rover) was never British and wholly British owned. They can be "British-made and designed" but as for how people 'think' about them they will always be thought of as Japanese. That's exactly my point re. Land Rover.
There will never be a "British-ness" about Honda like there is with Land Rover. Just as if Land Rover start being made in India they won't suddenly have an "Indian-ness" about them! Take the Nissan Quashqai for another example. Ask the average owner what nationality their car is and they will proba bly say 'Japanese', despite the fact it was developed, styled and built in Britain. So near and yet so far - not quite British! The name also sounds Japanese yet, ironically, in Japan it is know as the Dualis, which actually sounds European! Probably explains why my alarm lights had a life of its own last week, why they had to change the alarm, the instrument panel and had to fix a rusting spot on the car. Anyways, my Caterham was a lot worse. Nearing completion of a rebuild to get the car sort of reliable. No matter how many quality problems I had with them, I keep loving those things... |

In the mall queue i don't think i saw a bowler or an ibex or an ovick or even a bristol for all there was everything else. Typically top gear ambitious but a bit rubbish. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

Thought I saw a Bristol in there, maybe it was the Morgan I mistook it for.
As for the Ibex & bowler... i wonder how "small scale" production they went for? I mean, I've built 4 rovers from the chassis up now, and they never asked me... |

I believe clarkson said in the show that top gear had asked the British manufacturers if they wanted to go, so if bowler/ibex etc didn't bother to turn up the you can't really blame top gear |

Excellent episode last night
We had a small race two weeks ago with two F types (both S versions) and the sound from them was fantastic, far better than the TV reproduced. I have to report that we were in the Porsche, not the Defender, and lost miserably Then to add insult to injury we were thrashed by an XKR. All three were brand new and returning to Taunton Jag from a show. Bob 2015 Jaguar XE240 R Sport - goes like ....... !! 2013 Defender 90 CSW - sold 2009 Defender 110 Double Cab - sold 2001 TD5 90 CSW - offroad project - sold to a forum member 2011 Porsche Boxster - for the sunny days ! |

Excellent feature!
Astounding line-up too, bearing in mind how many of those vehicles aren't remotely road legal (all the F1 cars, Thrust, for example). That must have taken some organising! |

Only just watched it. When people say they are proud to be british because a group of lads or girls have done something with a ball I don't care.
When i see all that british made stuff it's bloody brilliant. All those jobs and all the GDP. Surprised the defender even knew where London was or had time out of its busy day to attend. |
