United Kingdom 2013 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 DCPU Santorini Black
Got my first introduction to one of the other 'benefits' of Defender ownership this week - flaking paint and rust. It had the rust spots in the tub when I picked it up...

But the paint on one of the weld seams (again on the tub) has already started cracking, and corroding underneath...

Not entirely sure I like the look of the painted-over swarf in that drilled hole either... 2013 Defender 110 XS DCPU

I too have had some small paint issues
im replacing the windscreen blocks this weekend with genuine land rover parts but am going to prime and paint myself.
im no spray paint expert but I think with a bit of care my spray job will last more than the two months land rovers attempt did.
just part of the journey Laughing

One for the suggestion box at the factory. From the amount of swarf I've found in mine it would make a tidy sum for them if collected in the scrap metal bin.

Not surprised to find your paint cracked there - they do torque down those bolts for the canopy struts pretty tight. In fact so tight on a corner of mine it actually pulled the tub topside up a few mm Shocked

The one nearest the drivers seat can't be used but the other one is ok if the cup isn't too tall.

When fitted in a TD5 there's no clearance issues on either one.

The cup holder is also removable leaving a rubber lined trinket tray

Oh right, extra storage space is always good! The console does look fantastic!

I have Fold down cup holders on the rear of the cubby, that may be an option.. Cheers, David

As an Alfa/LR owner I can tell you Alfa have them beat hands down on reliability!
7 years in last Alfa:
- one weeping seal on the clutch slave - £160
4 years in a Disco:
new clutch - £1300
new suspension bushes
EGR failures (Alfa also had EGR, no problem) - total failure both had to be recovered
tailgate lock failed and had to be replaced
handbrake adjusted 7 times and stuck on twice
handbrake motor failed - £360
Air-con pipes rotted through and air-con died week before European tour - £700
Drivers door lock failed
100 other things I have mentally blanked out

By an Alfa, you'll be stunned by the reliability if your a hard-core land rover fan! Laughing Disco 3 gone but the memory of the bills remain...
XS 110 Utility maybe one day..... (did they fix the quality yet?)
