I doubt that it has a bearing on your problem, but many years ago I had an odd problem with (IIRC) a Subaru of some kind. The earth strap to the engine broke, leaving the throttle cable as the only earth connection between the engine (and of course, alternator) and the rest of the vehicle. This caused the throttle cable to become extremely hot, and melted the nylon inner sleeve of the throttle cable sheath. All was well when driving, but as soon as the cable cooled it locked solid.

It took a few minutes to make the diagnostic jump from fused throttle cable to broken earth strap!

I can't believe that the wire isn't soldered into that pin in the plug.... even the proper factory crimped plugs don't grip that well, let alone one that's clearly been done by a pair of pliers Rolling Eyes

I'd go right through that screen wiring loom of it were me, and check (and solder) each connection.

It's worth investing in the correct crimp tool Warpig if you are going to do your own wiring and check the rating of the fuse you've installed.

There was a thread a while back that went into the various tools available and the pros and cons for each Thumbs Up
