Electrical assistance required please
Hi all, I have a 90 trayback winch challenge truck 300tdi

After a spell in storage I have dug him out and sent him for an MOT, failed on a few mechanical bits which I'm fine with, but has a stop / tail light issue that needs sorting

Was wondering if anyone was local to the Hampshire ( just outside Basingstoke ) area I could ply with copious amounts of Tea n biscuits in exchange for there time please ??

I would offer to pay however we have today collected my dog from the vets with a 2K bill Shocked

I am aware this is my first ask on here so be gentle please Laughing

Good afternoon, I thought I posted it in the wanted section Embarassed

However it's the n/ side stop tail, light, works fine with side lights and no ignition, ignition on, the brake light works fine with no ignition, but with ignition on the side light and brake light go out together on that side, all other lights seem ok ??

And thanks for the welcomes Thumbs Up

So it's only the rear N/S brake light only? No Guts, No Glory.

Sounds like a bad earth.Check ALL earths anyways they are the usual suspects.

Check earths, as mentioned, then I'd go over the wires with a multi-meter and check that there's power where there should be.

where abouts just outside basingstoke?

Without doubt it is an open circuit earth on the affected side. Either filament on its own will light up since it is earthed via the other, but but at the same time = no light (since no potential difference across the series-connected filaments).

Look for a fault somewhere between the light unit and the connection to the chassis. On the Puma the final earth connection to the chassis is somewhere in the vicinity of the gearbox.

Since both the filaments you mention are in the same bulb, it could in this case also be caused by a poor connection between the metal base of the bulb and the socket.

Hi Diablo, I'm in Oakley, if ya passing Wink

Thanks for all the tips chaps, ill get on it and see what I can find, I'm sure understanding electrics is a frame of mind - but not my frame of mind though Laughing

Got all the fluids n filters done tonight, a small patch welded over a punctured part of the chassis lubed up all the nipples

So discs n pads n callipers to go Thumbs Up
Oh yes and the small matter of a major steering issue the mot missed Shocked

Other side of bstoke to me but still. Might have a free bit of time pop up, depending on when you're free

I woudl go over it well with a multi-meter though, that should reveal all!
