Popped along with my lads for a few hours yesterday as we're only forty-five mins away. Took wifey's D3 for a change.
Glorious sunshine for most of the time I was there and all the stands looked busy. Caught up with a few of the forum sponsors but I'm always mindful that I shouldn't take up too much of their time when they have paying punters to attend to and I'm not in buying mode. Managed to spot the obligatory off piste special tricked up D1 painted mat black with skull and crossbones stickers. Plenty of other abominations there too but equally, plenty of cracking looking motors. Whilst it's great to say hello to a few people, yet again I came away thinking 'why did I bother?'. Think I need to leave a few years gap now or perhaps camp for the weekend with a group and make it a bit more of a social thing. As penance for my grumpiness, the D3 threw it's toys out of the pram on the way home. My guess is (yet another) compressor for the air suspension Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless. |

Had a great day at the show yesterday. Weather held all day then as I got back into the Defender to go home the sky went black and the heavens opened! Drove all the way home in torrential rain and flash floods. Hope all those people camping were ok.
Picked up a bargain on a pair of X-Lites and a coloumn lock shroud from X-Eng (doing proper show discounts). Also got some stainless mudflap brackets (front and rear and fixings for £50) from YRM. Also added to my tools and garage supplies! Thought it was a good show, noticed a quite a few pikeys around but no trouble. If I had one gripe it was the lack of good catering - pretty poor quality but expensive burger stalls mostly. Landrover events could learn something from things like the CLA Game Fair when it comes to catering - local producers and farmers selling top quality food at reasonable prices. Better than the frozen horse burger wagons. Did anyone else see the Line-X HCPU? Totally done in Line-X all over. Quite liked it until I overheard someone ask about how much it would cost to have theirs done and it is about £3K! |
