Genuine ones seem to corrode regardless of how well the paint is put on.

Gave up on them and now have the BP anodised ones, nicely made and hopefully they will look good long into the future. ONE LIFE, GET IT!

I bought black anodised stainless Croytec ones (beautiful quality) and will try to convince the dealer to fit them when the windscreen gets replaced under warranty...

John Croydon seems a first class bloke and I think he can anodise in different colours (but don't quote me). Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Mine were replaced under warranty by Hillendale at 2yrs 364day old
They are peeped, primed and sprayed by their approved local body shop and by the look of the paint job they will out live the original factory fitted ones. 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper

I have OX4x4 hinges and windscreen blocks and they are great. Been on a year now and no problems. I sprayed them satin black as I don't like the shiny stainless bling look.

What were the issues with OX hinges?

This is a direct cut and paste from the E-Bay advert for OX4x4 door hinges....

"........TDCI hinges have a slightly larger foot print. This will not cause an installation problem but may leave a "tidemark" if the paint is faded."

On the Puma when you remove the original hinges there is no topcoat of paint at all just primer, as the vehicle is sprayed with the hinges already fitted. Never mind about 'if the paint is faded'...in the case of the TDCI there ain't no paint to fade. A tidemark of primer was not the look I myself was after. I did contact them and suggest they make the footprint the same size to attract more purchasers perhaps? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

I checked both my 07 and 10 pumas, they have paint behind the windscreen blocks and door hinges. if they spray them with the hinges on, to they mask the door hinge bolts ?

Did you take the hinges off to check? I can only speak from experience on the actual swap out. On mine on initial inspection behind the hinge point it does indeed look like the vehicle is sprayed, this is just from overspray it's not until removal you discover the fact that it's not. Under the windscreen hinge blocks it was indeed sprayed as you stated.
Your Ice has different colour hinges to the body so who knows the process on that vehicle? As for the bolts WGAF? It could be the hinges are 'gripper pinned' on for the spraying process, masked off or temporary bolts fitted until the doors go on, drop Mike@landrover a line if it really concerns you that much.

Defenders are not sprayed as a built vehicle, the panels are attached to a dolly which goes through the paint shop. I don't know if the "hinges" are assembled to the screen or bulkhead when painted though.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Martin,

Don't think the windscreen hinges are fitted to either as BPman stated there is a normal paint finish under the screen ones. It's the door ones that appear to be already fitted prior to the spraying process on certain vehicles? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
