In my opinion, if L/R sell chequer plate, they can't really get funny about taking a car in as px etc if someones bought the cp from them and fitted it. I assume your local dealer won't sell or fit the kit at all then? Mark

Actually they do fit it but it is never fitted with the stainless bolts but pop-rivets, hell knows what state the underside must be in. That is why i took a day to do my TD5 and not the hour pop-rivets would take. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

I've never seen dealer fitted kit using pop-rivets either......The genuine L/R kits that I've seen/am looking at come complete with the L/R rivnut tool & all other fittings complete. I doubt the dealers would sling these parts in the skip to use pop-rivets just to save time.
As a side note (and NOT to cause trouble/argument etc etc!!) I've noticed there are certain members on here that are really down on Land Rover and everything Land Rover do....I'm sitting here wondering why they've actually got one? ..... maybe it's just me... Mark 2011 110 XS DC Stornoway Grey |

Have you had a quote back yet Mark? I'm assuming you still can't buy directly from them? (I'd much rather buy direct than go through another company). Peter

Just spoke to them (staying here right now). They can't supply direct. You will need to go through one of their retailers......L/R Genuine items......you don't need to look further than Mammouth *Wink, wink, nudge, nudge* Glyn |

What a 'throw away' comment and misguided too. TH Whites near Swindon must have up then as when mine went in for chequerplate fitting, half a day and £500 later mine came back complete with entire stainless fittings and not a pop rivet in sight! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Morrisons in Stirling used to use pop rivets, that is why i fitted them myself with the stainless bolts and nuts and after 3 years the corrosion enlarged the drill holes to 8-10mm and that was after painting holes. I believe they no longer use pops. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Thats because they are tight jocks and probably saving up all the stainless fittings to take to the scrap merchants to sell for a bottle of meths.
Red dot...ive never heard so much tosh in my life re holes enlarging...my mates got a C reg 90 and has had the wing tops done from new and still perfect. You cannot teach stupid people to do clever things |

My 3 year old Defender had holes the size of the stainless lock nuts.... shame you were not there to see..... I suppose the English weather is not as cold as demand the use of salt on the roads?
SOFTIES!!! 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS.. |
