Hi Gavin,
The Thule Atlantis "claws" go just about wide enough to accept the slats. You have to open them as wide as possible and then "encourage" them over the slat. Once the slat is in the claw you can close the claw onto the slats. I have now bought the Thule T-Track adapters (6974) and have swopped out the Thule T Track bolts for standard M8 bolts which fit directly into the Flat dog T-Track channel. This means the box can now be bolted to the rack using the T-Track in the rack. This way i can load the box to its absolute maximum and not worry about the claws slipping. Having said that, we've been on a couple of camping trips this year now just using the claws and the box had been completely packed with every last possible space filled. Does that help? |

Hi Jim
Thanks very much for the reply. I have googled the T-Track adapters you mention but I am having to go and get the box out of the garage so I can picture how it goes together and would fit on the rack. BTW I have the FrontRunner expedition roof rack which sounds like it is very similar to yours - using the track that accepts M8 bolts - I have several M8 lashing eyes bolted on already. Hope you don't mind me coming back with supplementary questions ! Thanks again Gavin |

The Front runner and the Flat dog are pretty much the same. I'm sure you'll have the same runners and t-tracks.
You should be able to fit your Atlantis box directly to the rack using the existing "claws". I would only suggest changing to the t-track adapters if you are carrying heavy loads in the box as it is then effectively bolted to the roof rather than hanging on. The adapters completely replace the claws. Unscrew the retaining screw, remove the claw, replace with the adapter and feed the M8 bolt through the adapter, tighten from within the box as you would with the claw. I also looking at the wolf boxes from Flat dog and the 3 wolf box bag so I can easily lash more stuff to the roof. |

Installed the Expedition rail to the Flatdog Rax. Give a bit more confidence that all the crap on the roof won't fall off (unlike my side air intake cover).
Been a really useful bit of kit already! ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge |

I love it and its a UK firm with UK manufacturing
![]() Very sturdy but still lightweight - no complaints so far and Ben and Barry @ Flatdog have been great. |

Hello all. Just picking up on this thread as on the point of buying a rack for my 110. Have historically had a Patriot one for my D3 which was great but the Flatdog ones seem sturdy, well made, lighter and cheaper. Would appreciate any thoughts from any owners of Flatdog ones before I open the wallet. Have the accessories now come on line too?
Cheers |
